Cross was a sleeper agent, trained by his Assassin ancestors so the Templars could use the Assassin's own skills against them.

Meaning that he thought he was a member of the Assassins, when in reality, Abstergo was calling the shots. Once they obtained enough information, they snapped his mind, and he turned against the Assassins, and once more became a Templar.

My personal opinion is that altaรฏr was the most interesting character, because it was just amazing to see him evolve throughout the game, and grow up and become wise with his quest. As for the series, the only bad thing about it is that it's over. I'm hoping for allot of prequals, sequals, alternatequals, fangames, litterature, and art, as the universe of the assassins unfold before us.

Although this is the end of Desmond's story, Ubisoft has said that it probably won't be the end of Assassin's Creed as a whole. I'm sure we'll see more games in the future.

Yeah, can't say I'm too interested in playing a game taking place during WWII. I would've thought that feudal japan or similar would be perfect for an AC game, but they said somewhere that Japan was too boring. Thought it was a bit surprising.

I don't think we can completely exclude anything but WW2 setting though. Depending on what you believe about the origin of the assassins and the templars, it is possible that they have been fighting since the end of "Those who came before", which means it'd be possible to see a game that takes place in ancient rome, or perhaps even one that goes into detail about what happened between the assassins and the Mongols (even though it was a devestating defeat for the assassins in the real story). What i'd personally be interested in is a game that takes place in the victorian era, either in england or france, new york, or in the wild west.

Victorian era would be cool. Although considering the fashion of those times, the assassin outfit will probably look horrible. xD
Personally, being a scandinavian, I would like to see something nordic. Or something african perhaps.

Haha, Lucy mentions something about an ancient nordic forefather. Viking assassins would be awesome. A slightly strange time period to put it, and you'd need some story to make it fit, But I say it works!!

On xbox an outfit you can buy for your avatar is cowboy assassin, so that may mean that a game is being developed that takes place there.
