This is a piece that has a lot of potential to be even better than it is now. I love your use of texture and color, but there are a few things that could be improved.

To begin, your piece has a bit of "floating head" syndrome. I would suggest extending either the blood or putting in some shoulders because Dexter seems to be disembodied a little bit.

Secondly, your blood needs some work. Two things: it blends in too much with his skin color, and it doesn't look much like blood other than the color and general shape. Try looking at some references (creepy, I know haha) and adding in some more value to make it more three-dimensional. Especially consider some highlights to make it look wet.

Thirdly, the proportions you've got are really good, but the one thing I'm noticing is that the nose is slightly angled against the direction of his face, which makes it less impressive as a technical piece. The hair could also benefit from more layers; it needs more definition and detail. Try painting in at least a few thinner lines to suggest that it is hair a bit better.

Now, onto what you did well: I adore Dexter's expression! It really looks like his trademark smirk/grin and the facial hair is spot on as well. I also really like the black and white speckles you added behind the mid- and foregrounds.

Overall, this piece is on its way to being really great - but it needs a bit more work before it's all the way there.
