Apparently I've been drawing horse melodrama for six goddang years? I figured I'd showcase how the main cast has grown and changed from their original concepts. The first panel of each character features the very first concept drawing I ever did of them~
What a wild ride this has all been. A warm thank you to all of you, who continue to inspire me everyday.

One of my biggest problems is that I never want to post something until it feels 'finished'...and then I get caught up in my original idea for a story and stubbornly try to keep the characters in their original roles rather than letting them grow and adapting the story to them. It's really inspiring to see your original ideas and how much they've changed throughout the years!

Things has certainly change for these characters and I like, reminds me of watching an old TV show where I get to watch the characters grow up and develop. You see a nice young man whose only interest is schoolwork and the next thing you know, perhaps eight years later, he's a rock and roll superstar who doesn't enjoy schoolwork anymore. Reminds me a lot about Degrassi, and I like it. I kinda wish shows like that would come back... oh well, your art helps a lot in remembering the best times.Β

I stuck to characters that had major changes and lots of exploration. Irie and Artie have only featured in a handful of drawings each, and haven't really strayed from their first designs.

i miss the second redesign drawing of cloud burst tbh, (if you're keeping count of critics i guess. -Q-Q-) i dont mind her latest design at all! it just feel way to main stream, relatable but over seen character complex. i am really glad that she keeps her small soft and round body type tho very cute and on point [thats just my room temp take you totally dont have to listen to me haha]

Wow, this is a great way to see how much your characters have grown.Β Even your side characters grew from just being simple bit characters to being well-developed characters with their own goals and stories of their own.Β There's so much going on with everyone that it doesn't matter whose story you decide to work on, I can't wait to check it out.Β I'm looking forward to seeing how your art and characters develop in the future!

Love seeing the characters' evolution (and your style improving over time) and I find it funny that Cloudburst went through quite a bunch of designs (one per frame here). Most impressive is Moondancer starting as a joke villain only to become a very serious and threatening one. Though I think I've discovered your stuff when Slashstab's already turned into Moony cos I don't remember that guy.
I feel like there could be a joke involving Moony and Panny where Pan calls him "Lord Slashstab" in a mocking tone or something.
I'm also impressed by the fact that even most of the early designs were still good. Maybe Goldie and Skyla's early designs were a bit lackluster, their current versions are definitely better.
(I've just started my own nextgen ponies, partially inspired by your art, and I'm still struggling with what ships to go with, what characters to have and what to do with them. Hopefully I'll sort them out.)
