this is kind of scaring me, because children..... but it's also beautiful, it kind of reminds me how cruel society can be to those who are different, and brings me all kinds of deep thoughts like that.

Most of us all wants to be that Unicorn, yet more than seven in ten gets themselves hidden.

My interpretation:
Ultimately, they're all the same. One is just sensitive enough to have her true, raw colours on display.
Unfortunately, this world is not always so friendly to those who bare their vibrant soul. Too many people live without colour, or try on someone else's colours (that might already be false) to fit in. Then they are unhappy that they are not themselves, and fearful of those who are still bright, unusual individuals.
So many people do this, that the 'unicorns' feel pressured to give up their vibrancy as well.
But ultimately, we are all the same... exactly because we are all different from each other. What is there to be fearful of?
