This is Corban from The Faithful and the Fallen series by John Gwynne.

It is a fantasy series that I cannot recommend enough to people to have them to read. Currently, I am only halfway through the second book, Valor, but it is so, so good. Such a wonderful fantasy world, but I won't spoil anything, just encourage anyone who comes across this picture to go and read the series themselves.

So this guy is one of the main characters of the series and has a greatness thrust onto him, but the book starts with him learning how to be a warrior, training, helping his dad out who is a blacksmith and really starts out as a sort of "slice of life" read and then nose dives into this great epic fantasy adventure. Here, he is only depicted as I imagined him in the first half of Valor, where he and a few others are on the run. He's a great swordsman, extremely loyal, and I imagine as a thoughtful, doing-the-right thing sort of guy.

I'll most likely do another character that I've come to enjoy from the series, Veradis ben Lamar.

I have got to work on feet and faces though, ugh.

As for programs used, this piece was done on Sketchbook for Galaxy, which is like MS Paint, but on a tablet and you can layer things. It will be the last time I use the program as I am upgrading to Sketchbook by Autodesk, which is a more advanced "photoshop-like" version.
