The book Transformers Legacy, a collection of various Transformers box art has some examples of pre-Transformers art, including insect modes of the Deluxe Insecticons which started off as Armored Insect Battalion Beetras by TakaToku Toys. They were later sold to Bandai, later sold to Hasbro, but not Takara which resulted in their exclusion from the cartoon. As I was working on the recolour of Beet-Gadol to create a Barrage Insect mode using the Transformers toy as a colour scheme, I wondered about how he might look with the colour scheme of the original three Insecticons. This one was quite easy given the colourings are similar, just changing some yellow into black however, the chrome bits that would be on the horny part are not as I would like them to appear. I would like the chromed effect. This served as the base for the robot mode that I did as well and proved to be quite a challenge. I feel this colour scheme works very well, much better than the yellow and green the toy had. This seems way more evil....like an Insecticon.
