And it is customary for a young bachelor seeking the hand of a young maiden to prove he’s worthy of her by engaging in combat with a male relative. (a father, brother, ect.) And if he can hold his own the two are then permitted to wed. (Winning the combat is a sure thing)In these matters, the woman whom the man seeks to marry DOES have the right to act on her own behalf.
