i love rpgs. especially turn based ones and free roam with a good story. but after final fantasy X2, i was like... well i started to go backwards to retro rpgs i never finished like Alundra, Grandia Xtreme, Eternal Eyes, ect and actually prefer them more. ihavent played breath of fire 5 but i hope capcom release another one. i cant say im quitting final fantasy for good but im waiting for something a little more "wow" from square enix. i would love to see square enix take grandia from game arts and keep the battle system of game arts but add the square enix flair. that would be one god of an rpg.

jesus christ ...you're really into asian games...i dont think you will like final fantasy 13 ...i did. you wouldnt like it because its mostly linear but i like it because the story is so good thats how you see that i really buy a game just because of the story and i couldnt give a fuck about the gameplay XDΒ

its wierd you call them asian games because even the directors and publishers of final fantasy are japanese. story is fine and all and its a big part of an rpg experience but if the gameplay is unintuitive then its not much of a "game" its no more than a visual novel like phoenix wright.
like in breath of fire 4, beyond the story line, there many times where it was necessary to use team attacks and and switch characters often. even though only 3 can participate in battle, you had the option to switch them out during battle for someone with a particular skill or element. this not only made the game enjoyable but it made sure you got familiar with all the characters knowing strength and weaknesses as well as enjoying the story as it unfolds.
