Hey Folks...

Here's my version of Luke Cage!!

He is definitely a hard character to redesign. I suppose it's because he's like the gangsta rap of the Marvel U... Especially in the 90's when they did away with his costume for a more street look. Since then I think that has stuck, which is why his look has been kind of uninteresting for the longest time.

In my redesign, my angle of Mr. Cage is of a man who has come to terms with his role as a super hero. An acceptance which is reflected in his costume. Although I paid homage to his original 70's costume by using a similar color theme, I still wanted to give him street gear style wear to keep him contemporary and current. I felt the bright colors contrasted the urban look, so that he still looked like someone who is going to rescue you, not jack you for your iPod.

Despite the fact that he is looking more the super hero, I still wanted to make sure that he is still one of the baddest mofo's around...Since Cage has some history of trouble with the law and his identity isn't a well kept secret, I gave him the beveled metal knuckle plates which spell out his name. That way anyone who crosses Cage will get a nice imprinted memento/warning for all to see and take note.
