Project Rooftop posted a list of Heroes in Need... A list of comic characters they thought could need a new look...I have been really interested in this character since I first saw him in Defenders of the Earth. I totally agree that he is in sore need of a new look.
I saw the SyFy version and was disappointed that they took away a lot of what made him recognizable as the Phantom. I hope my version does a good job of give a classic character a new look...

I think there should be a face mask of some kind, to keep with tradition. Maybe a Batman-style cowl mask?
