Tie fighters are usually stoared on and launched from racks, so with landing gears they would be very different from the rest of the tie-fighters.
of course, if it's a long range fighter/bomber/scout then perhaps landing gears would be needed for more remote locations.

Well the idea was that this would be a dedicated close air support/ground attack craft. So I thought in a long term deployment, they might be serviced by ground bases, but I suppose a ground base could have racks just the same as a ships hangar bay.
Of course landing gear would allow it to stay with the ground troops if the mother ship were called away to other duties. I decided this craft wouldn't have hyperdrive capabilities so if the mother ship leaves then they are stuck.
I'll work on it some and post a version with the gear and see how it goes...

Well, where necessary standar TIE fighters would just land on their wings/solar panels.. so no real need for a landing gear.
As for the model: that's a very nice concept!

hmmm... I always thought the wings looked too fragile to support the weight of the fighter, but I suppose it's possible. I think I'll continue with the landing gear, but as optional gear to be used when needed. Glad you like it though!

Yeah, they do look fragile, but as for landing on them, that's canonic! But of course you can still incorporate a landing gear :-D.
