Fruit Description: This zoan fruit allows Joseph to turn into a snapping turtle as well as a half human half turtle hybrid. Due to the slow aging of all turtles, Joseph's life-span has increased several years, making him only look a mere 25 at his current age of 152 years.

Specialty: All around Jack-of-trades. Mostly Navigation, cooking, repair and healing.

Personality: A slightly strange man, Joseph has his heart open to a couple of different things. This man is a pervert to the very end, but is not straight up about it, generally winning over women before enjoying himself. Just don't let that tarnish your thoughts of him, because if he is rejected, he won't be a fool and pine for one's affections, but accept the rejection and generally treat the original target as either a younger sister or an enemy.

His lust for women isn't his only sin, for he greedily keeps all the berries, gold, silver, and general shiny things for himself. While only a seductive woman could trick him out of his berries, he will not fall for all tricks all the time. He has his other issue as well, the issue of trying to find opponents that are truly challenging to his ancient strength that has barely changed since his youth. But all this is not to put you off of him, for when not fighting, howling over women, or counting his berries, he is a gentle and kind man of great statue.

His pirate nature isn't shown well, instead he is often seen playing with children, talking with adults about issues, and even reminiscing about the older times with the elders around. Best of all, if you befriend him, he will become your shield, an unbreakable force of true devotion to those he cares about. Also, just as a warning, do not wake him from his sleep unless you present him with some sort of sweet, sweet food.

Dream: His dream is to continue logging every type of devil fruit as well as their powers in his journal. Currently, he is on his second journal, the first being published as a book for people to read.

History: Joseph was born on a small island mostly built around a marine stronghold, the entire island no larger then the base as well as about 12 other buildings in each direction. With his parents both being marines, he dreamed to become one as well, living and play-fighting with his mom, or learning navigation from his dad. His life changed a bit as he entered into a strange relationship with the sea at the age of 12. A single fruit, mysteriously colored with several spirals on it, had made its way to the youths hands.

He tried to learn about the fruit from his parents, his parents friends, and even a few marines he was only introduced to. Sadly, due to being busy, none of them had enough time to even look at the fruit. Eventually Joseph was so tired and hungry from walking around, he took a bite of the fruit, cringing at the taste, but told never to waste food, even if it tasted a little strange. He ate the whole thing before running into a few of his friends who invited him to swim with him. This was the day that Joseph was the closest to dying without him purposely putting himself in harms way.

He continued to train his best to enter the marines, even though the effect of the fruit was mostly unknown. Yet, strangely enough, as his friends aged, he seemed not to, looking 12 years of age, even when he finally enlisted into the marines at the age of 18. When asked why he looked so young, Joseph could only answer that he had eaten one of the rare devil fruits, and it kept him looking young. For basic training, he was sent to another island for 4 years, looking older in terms of experience and inner strength. It was also within these 4 years he learned the identity of the fruit he ate, a zoan fruit, Turtle, model snapping turtle.

He sailed around the Blues for several years, capturing pirates, battling sea kings, and even saving towns from bandits of both land and sea. He was beginning to get a name for himself, and by the age of 30, was a well-known marine hero with the body of a 16 year old. It was when the letters from home stopped coming, and he returned to his home island, did the change happen. All of the houses where empty, destroyed, and a little beaten up while the Marine base seemed to shimmer with such intense beauty.

A newer marine captain had taken over the base, and with brute force, made the town-folk leave his island, even killing Joseph's parents when they tried to stand up to him. He had commanded that his word was law, and his law was the law of the marines. This caused something to snap within Joseph, and two days later, the island was in flames and the marine stronghold collapsed into a heap of metal and flame. He received a high bounty of 150,000,000 Berries after that, his title of hero turning into monster quickly.

This tale happened over 100 years ago, the current Joseph not a marine hero nor a monster, the once high bounty dropped due to the false news of his death at the hands of a Marine captain, now Lieutenant. His life consists of now assisting crews who can pay him in just the right way or those who just seem to strike him as interesting, and having a hammer or two on the crew will help lessen his price.

Other: The large shield he carries is plated with sea-stone, iron, and steel as well as being made of steel. When he doesn't shave, his white hair will grow out quickly, making him look a bit more like his age, and a sage to many.
