Oh yeah, don't you know it! I also picked up the new Freddy/Jason/Ash today and Savage Dragon. A couple of 99 cent avengers dark reign leftovers to catch up. DRAGON I have bought since I was 12 when it came out! (AHH!) and I can usually only afford to buy one series at a time...right now, Blackest Night...well and the Flash Rebirth if it'll ever end!

Also FINALLY they put out the last Ambush bug after almost a whole year of waiting!

I tried to find an issue of THE LIST mini, is it even out yet?

I've never read Freddy/Jason/Ash - is it worth picking up? I love Ash. Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness are a couple of my fave films. "Groovy."

AH! REBIRTH! My little sisters bought some of my back order for me - including the most recent part - so I don't know what's going on!!! The last thing I saw, Max was back, and Barry and Wally had helped him escape the Speed Force. Also, Jess Quick/Liberty Bell had remembered Johnny's formula. I kinda wish Wally would stop wearing the uniform...... It was awesome when he came back, but then BARRY came back, and it kinda over-shadows him.

(And Hal Jordan. OMG. Best GL EVER. Except possible Mogo. God Bless Alan Moore.)

I can't say it's for everyone. In my case I have seen every Nightmare, Friday and Evil Dead film numerous times and can recite many lines from each. The writers are obviously the same kind of fanboys because the story brings together notable survivors from each franchise. So your average reader will not know them even through the references given. Although it might click. Your Ash love will definitely help you enjoy it as he is the narrator and focal point. There are actually two series. 1-6 and 1-6. The latter is one issue away from the end.

I would say if you want to see Freddy attack Ash in his dreams, Freddy take over and use the Necronomicon, Freddy, Jason adn leagues of Deadites be taken prisoner by the government and then gut the senate and house...then pick them up! HA! Sorry, I can be a bit long winded when it comes to horror.

Yeah, I am not sure what they are gonna do with two flashes, maybe Wally will wear the old kid flash costume again and Impulse will downgrade too!

Oh, now we can never talk again. Mogo rules! Talk at me when you get a chance.

Wicked. I'll invest in one of the TP's, if it's not for me then I'll know, but it sounds quite fun to read! "Ash love", Never thought of it quite like that...... But it definitely is close to.

I don't think they should put Wally back in the Kid Flash uniform, but he needs, NEEDS to get out of the red and golds. He carried it well while Barry was gone, but BARRY'S BACK, damn it, and he's badder than ever.

Nah uh, you are NOT suggesting there's a better GL than Hal. BLASPHEMY!!! Mogo is perhaps the closest to "MOST-BAD-ASS", and is a close second, but out of the thousands of GL's, only Hal has beat them ALL, been God's avenging angel, and arrested Sinestro.

AND he beat the crap out of Mongul in Supes Return after the destruction of Coast City.

I will allow you to defend yourself.

Provided you don't say "KYLE RAYNER FTW".......

Lordwormm In reply to Babbitman [2009-11-07 02:12:34 +0000 UTC]

HAHAHA! Oh now way. Hal is number one. Although Alan Scott is not allowed in the competition being the original namesake.

Nah, I misunderstood probably, I just thought you didn't dig MOGO. Hal definitely kicks all other GL asses. I have really grown to love John Stewart and Guy Gardner. Couldn't care less for Rayner.

As for my favorite major GL...KILOWOG. Always.

Favorite C-listers...LARVOX, CHASELON, GALIUS ZED...yes, you are talking to a comic nerd from way back. Olapet? Eoddore? You may know them, if not google image them! HAHA!

Babbitman In reply to Lordwormm [2009-11-08 13:25:23 +0000 UTC]

I stopped reading GL ages ago, but then they bnought back Hal and I was like "HAL!!! FUCK YEAH!!!"

I picked up the Sinestro Corps Wars TP, and was blown away by all the references to Alan Moore's GL short stories. BUt, oh my life, was Rayner a complete and utter useless wuss?! "Major Force killed my girlfriend, and now I am Parallax" (I didn't like that bit, btw. Only HAL should EVER be Parallax).

I read it and realised that Kyle Rayner does not actually have any testicles.

I mean, Jon was crippled. Alan Scott . Guy Gardner - TOOK IT TO DOOMSDAY. FREAKN. DOOMSDAY. And Hal witnessed the obliteration of COAST CITY. His WHOLE DAMN CITY.

But Rayner can't handle being a GL? ******.

Sorry, rant over.

MOGO is THE SHIT. I quite like Kilowog, just because he's quite funny; a bit like the dude from Full Metal Jacket ("Private Poozer, the war will be over by the time you get your FAT ASS MOVING!!!"), but Hal will ALWAYS be my all time fave.

Lordwormm In reply to Babbitman [2009-11-09 05:26:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I dig Hal. I bought Rebirth, now Flash Rebirth. I think the only other rebirth they should do is Aquaman. I know, but I have always had a soft spot for Aqua!

Agreed on the Sinestro Corps...also, agreed...Rayner as Parallax!?!?! I felt that was just thrown in there as if everyone didn't have enough to deal with. It seems it would have been a bigger threat than it was anyhow.

Kyle did have testicles but Granny Goodness wears them as earrings! AH!

Larvox is your second favorite! HA!

I always dug two form single stories I read, one was an eyeball with tentacles and the other a little short fat purple lady who was GL/sheriff for her alien town.

One of my first and favourite graphic novels is an Aquaman one. It's him sitting in a cave, and there's flashbacks thru out. It's really, really good. I'd love to see them bring Arthur back, but I have a feeling they can't really do it well - it's not like with Hal, where they had a cosmic event, or with Barry, they could use the speed force to res....urrect....him.......

*cogs turn*

Unless they did the whole "Lady Of the Lake brings him back from the dead" thing. Or if he was brought back by some form of Oceanic mystic storyline. I think I could probably make an angle like that work, but it re

That's awesome. I feel he's always been given the shaft. I know some liked it, but what the hell, boagtee, long hair, FISH HOOK HAND!?!? I liked the water one a bit better, but still, that's MERA's only schtick!!

You are right...they really should be able to bring in the mythological figures of the sea, whoever it was he dealt with to become the Dweller of the Deep in 52.

Maybe an entire pantheon of Sea Gods get together (ala War of the Gods) Poseidon, Neptune, Cybele, Amphitrite, Triton, etc...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Babbitman In reply to Lordwormm [2009-11-11 08:58:39 +0000 UTC]

He has. It's like "Eyuk. He talks to fish and lives in the sea. Let's have him fight whalers and stuff."

A pantheon of Sea Gods would be quite interesting. And I agree - Mera had the whole "Hardwater" thing, not Aquaman, so why give it to him?! I didn't mind the long hair and beard so much, but your right. In terms of practicality, giving him a fish hook seemed a bit of a shot in the dark. They could do an angle exploring the whole "curse" aspect of his heritage - he was abandoned because of his blond hair, which was meant to have been the curse of what's his face. Bring him back with some "the sea will always need a guardian" malarkey. I recently saw an action figure of him in a costume similar to that of Tempest that didn't look too bad (as much as I love him, that orange shirt was... cookey at best); or give him some armour like when he fought Imperix.

Lordwormm In reply to Babbitman [2009-11-12 01:28:23 +0000 UTC]

I have a great Aquaman issue from his long haired days that guest starred Swamp Thing. First and maybe only time they've teamed up, of course to battle ecological terrorism!

I agree with the curse angle. A re-examination of his birth, rejection and youth could be in order. I would hope they would avoid making him too Namorish, which is what I feel happened when he became the pompous jerk, giving everyone attitude. The malarkey you referred to.

I know that figure, he actually wore that costume, the water patterned blues and whites.

I know, the costume maybe could use a tweak, since he does look like a goldfish. I do love it though. I kinda liked the sleeker version they made when he had the water hand.

I think he actually made the biggest impression (other than being my first DC figure ever! Bathtub fun!) as the leader of the detroit era JLA. I bought a lot of those for 10 cents each and read the hell out of them.

I am gonna have to go back and check out the Aqua armor he used to fight Imperiex.

Babbitman In reply to Lordwormm [2009-11-16 12:51:12 +0000 UTC]

That actually sounds awesome; well, the team-up, anyway. As much as I loved the character, I felt like they didn't really do much with him unless it was a) Cap'n Planet "stop the polluter's" style or b) JLA/team-ups.

I think it'd be cool to see something "Origin"-ish; see what happened with his parentage, and, as you suggested, look more closely at his birth, rejection and childhood. In the story I read, which dealt largely with that sorta thing, he was abandoned by the Atlanteans's for being cursed, got attacked by a shark, stabbed it in the eye with a bit of coral, then was raised by dolphins; until they disowned him for being human. Then he had some romance with an Inuit girl, who was savagely attacked by her cousin (Ocean-Master).

What happened between then is anybody's guess.

I really didn't like the "Holier than thou" attitude; you're right, it was way too Namor for it's own good.

He DID wear that costume? Awesome. I might have to buy that figure (wow. That sounds really childish. That said, I do have the Barry Allen Flash from that same series.....) Maybe they could cross that with the "water hand " costume. Maybe you could design something

I don't think I ever read that series - I may have to invest in some of those issues if I can find them.

The Imperix armour was pretty cool; ocean themed, but sorta bronze/orange. It always annoyed (and still does when they don't do it with other characters, too) me that they never really clearly defined his powers - his strength level etc. I always thought that, under the sea at least, Aquaman was Superman level strong. I reckon that all comic companies should do that - "Yes he's this strong, he can do this, this, and that, BUT he can't do that, that or this." - and stick to it clearly.

After digging through to look at the Swampy/Arthur team-up, I found another oddball that I own.

LOBO!!! teamed-up with Aquaman. This one made sense in an odd way. You know Lobo has his pets right? The "space dolphins"? Anyhow, while on Earth he bumps into AQ and finds out that he is on a mission to save these dolphins from experimentation etc. Lobo, having such a soft spot for "fishies", offers to help. This is when crossovers are the greatest, a common thread is actually explored and gives two characters who otherwise wouldn't meet, a reason.

Isn't Ocean Master AQ's brother? Then the Inuit girl was HIS COUSIN!! AHHHHHH! AQUA-cest! Or maybe it doesn't count in the water! AHHA!

Yeah, he wore it alright. I guess it was supposed to be camouflage?

Also...ahem...I am 31 and my wife still allows me to keep a rotating scene on our coffee table. Some weeks it's Bunsen & Beaker meeting Pinhead, other weeks it's Hulk and Thing fighting The Blob. I am sure you get the idea. I just say, "It's a geek thing, nuff said."

I agree with the strength thing. One one hand it's cool because you can debate fights and everyone had a different sense of who can do what, on the other hand sometimes they let hacks slip through the cracks (rhyme!) and next thing you know, Aquaman can telepathically control toilet paper!!!

Babbitman In reply to Lordwormm [2009-11-17 08:55:51 +0000 UTC]

LOBO!!! And Aquaman?!!! HOLY SHIZZLE, that'd be AWESOME. Did you read 52? I loved when Lobo cropped up in that! I love how Lobo worships space dolphins, yet massacred his entire planet when he was a child, then got banned from Heaven and Hell, so actually can't die.

Those are wicked cool team-ups; when you've got the strangest pairing, with two completely different views on everything bar one subject.

He's his half-brother - they share a demonic dad, I believe. The way it worked out in the long term was something like OM wasn't related to the family really, or something...... Fish-cest would be wrong!

........... Camouflage? Doesn't Aquaman have Blond hair?! Who would he be hiding from?........ *scratches head* .......... Aquaman has some strange ideas for costumes. I just had a vision of him and Batman in the JLA headquarters............

Bats: So I developed this material for my cape to help me hide in the shadows better.
Aquaman: Yeah? That's pretty cool. I wore a bright orange shirt to make people think I was a harmless goldfish.
Batman: ..................... I also developed this grappling line to help me swing around the city at night.
Aquaman: Well, after having my hand eaten by Piranha, I put a fish hook on it, and its got a wire in that, so that I can go fishing between bitching about air-breathers and fighting the polluters Captain Planet neglects to finish off.
Batman: Dude. Captain Planet's not real.
Aquaman: What?
Batman: Captain Planet. He's a fictional character created by Ted Turner in the 90's.
Aquaman: Then who's THAT guy? *points at shiny guy just entering the room. Shiny guy looks sorta like Captain Planet*
Batman: *looks over should* That's Captain Atom.
Aquaman: Pffft, some detective you are. Hey, Cap, come on over!
Captain Atom: Hey Aquaman. Bats. *nods*
Bats: So, er, Captain, what have you been up to lately?
Captain Atom: Oh, y'know, taking on polluters, totally macking with a woman who looks like Megan Fox, but has a burnt side to her face.
*smug, Aquaman leaves the room*
Captain Atom: Pay up, Bats.
Bats: *hands him a blank cheque* Y'know, he'll forget all of that in 5 seconds.

LOVE IT!!! I have a "man room" at my girlfriends house. It's slowly being converted in to where I'm going to keep all my manly (geek) stuff, like the crates of comics and action figures I have in the attic at the moment. Gunna be putting shelves up when I move in in the new year, so that I can have all my Marvel Legends on display.

Something that really, REALLY pissed me off, was in one of the newer JLA issues that Wildstorm had crossed over into, Superman flew "just below the speed of light".

WHAT. THE. F**K. ?!!

If he could do that, he could fly faster than the Flash. Which means that HE ISN'T THE FASTEST MAN ALIVE. Granted, Superman was the first ever superhero, kudos to Jerry and Joe. But I hate that sometimes, some writers make him out to be a complete power whore.

And all you need is Harry Potter's wand, and a glowing green rock, and the guy buckles. I think there should totally be an Aquatic beat down for him, and soon; much like the Thor vs Iron Man fight.

Lordwormm In reply to Babbitman [2009-11-18 00:32:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I invested in 52, it was my one series (besides savage dragon) for that year.

Yeah Lobo's a bastich alright. Who else breaks into the fortress of solitude DRUNK and picks a fight with Superman!? Bar fight with Captain Marvel?

Then you've got the out-of-continuity Batman crossover. Ventriloquist paid Lobo a bounty on Joker's head. Joker paid him a cool ten million to humiliate Bats and kill him and then come back and kill the him(joker) anyway!!

Oh yeah, half-brother, I forgot. Demonic dad eh? I am gonna have to look up more of this. I am supposed to be like an expert, you are shaming me!!!

Fish-cest! I like that one better! HA!

Blonde hair, I know, I guess he would carry around yellow coral or something? hehe

HAHAHA! That's fantastic dialogue! You should totally work for Toyfare!

Yeah, I need some space too. I never had the budget to start into Marvel Legends or DC direct so I only got he ones I really had to have.

Now that the new smaller lines are out I am buying those. I just hope they do EVERYBODY and don't cut the line, I will be so pissed. I started buying them with expectations that they would reach as deep as Legends and Direct.

You are right about Superman. I mean he's cool as hell, but in the real world he would have bored a heat hole through luthor, joker, capt cold, grodd and evreyone else and we really would have a utopia. I mean, if they play him as a God then all anyone has to do is get his beeper number and problem solved. I do love to see him get pounded every once in a while. Also I remember on line where S was ribbing Flash about previous races and Flash says..."Clark, those were for charity" then feeds him his dust!

Yeah, I like that Magic can crumple him too. Captain Marvel can beat his ass to a pulp. Other guys who he should be on the same level with are Martian Manhunter, Captain Atom, Wonder Woman, Aquaman (in water like you said), Mon-El.

Hey if you ever get tired of these geek chats, just let me know, I enjoy having someone to go back and forth with anytime!

Babbitman In reply to Lordwormm [2009-11-18 11:30:23 +0000 UTC]

My favourite moment in 52 (and it was an AMAZING series) goes to Iris and Black Adam. He's holding her in his arms, she's dying, and you expect her to say "They're not worth it, you've become such a great man now, do not sink to their level, honour my life with peace". Instead, she just tells him, "You were right; avenge me." I read it and nearly cried; seeing the man she'd worked so hard to build just crumple - or rather, more importantly, act the way a husband WOULD act. If something happened to Lois, Supes wouldn't fly round the world and reverse time; he'd lobotomize Luthor.

GAAAAAAH! I LOVE Lobo. He is THE SHIT.

Hey, don't quote me! I'm pretty sure he was his half brother though.

As for Aquaman's camo; he could always wear a swimming cap ( at the image of him going "slaphead" for a skinny dip).

Thanks! Mayby I'll check out their website and see if there's any jobs going...... I'd tell you about the origin of my user name, but it's pretty long-winded (HINT: It involves me mocking Superman in a similar way).

I collected all of the first three series' of the Marvel Legends, but then I slowly stopped buying them - namely because they started to get worse (the first couple of series' were amazingly detailed, and looked almost like statues, but then Toybiz started to try to make them more "articulate" instead of concentrating on the quality of the figures - then they sold out to Hasbro and *mimes aeroplane crash* I don't think they've done a really truly amazing figure since).

There are a few more I want to get, then I will think about growing up...

Totally - that's something I always liked about Earth-2 (I think it's Earth 2, I lose track); Ultraman in particular. He LOBOTIMIZED Braniac. How awesome is THAT?! And I'm pretty sure that happened in one of the Rebirth issues recently - Clark tried to race Barry, and Barry was like, "Pffft, eat shit, Kal" and took off in to the speed force. (Ok, so obviously he didn't say that, but he may as well have.) Also, have you been reading JLA: Cry For Justice? In the first issue, Hal's like, "We need to do something. I'm sick of waiting for the villains to kill a heap of my friends before we do anything." And Clark's like "Well, what do you expect us to do? Let's go back to the Tower and drink milk and eat cookies." And Hal's like, "No, Kal. I'm sick of you telling us to sit back and wait. I'm doing something about it." And flies off with Ollie. It was awesome. He pretty much gave Supes the finger.

I loved that in the Public Enemies book - Captain Marvel's like, "Stay down Superman. I've beaten you before, I'll do it again." If you can. go on youtube and watch the Justice League Cartoon fight between the; it's actually pretty brutal.

Totally agree with that list.
Captain Marvel: Has magic. [link] I think this fight shows what a DICK Supes can be.
Martian Manhunter: Is a freakn SUPERSTRONG SHAPESHIFTING PSYCHIC ALIEN. He'd be like "Kal, you are really Krypto."
Wonder Woman: Should be married to him. Obviously, she is the only woman who could bare his child.
Aquaman: Would drown him. And hit him with a whale, like he did to Namor in the 90's.
Captain Atom: Is one of my all-time fave DC characters. He's so under-rated, it's unbelievable. The moment I realised how much I love that shiny guy? When he HEADBUTTED THE SHIT out of Superman. Case in point: [link]
My only criticism about this fight is that all the red sun radiation would BLATANTLY left Supes to drained to fight back and beat Cap. It pissed me off that he lost.

Mate, I really don't mind. It gives me a chance to geek out, as well.

But remember he did it for Margot Kidder. HA! Imagine her in the role now!

I agree, Black Adam is pretty much the man. I am going to have to go back and read that part again. In fact I may just occupy my free time with one issue anight !

HA! I can't stand it! He should totally wear a cap! What about a bald Aquaman! Being one myself, I must advocate! (although sans the aqua!)

I have long awaited a Babbitman reference shot and bio! I will wait for the trade!

I had heard that about the line. I only have Hulk, Thing, Man-Thing, Colossus, Beast & Rhino. Always wanted Juggernaut, Abomination and Sasquatch. I did buy the MODOK build a figure on ebay, but haven't ponied up for The Blob! I will stop at that unless they make MADCAP! Then I MIGHT!! think about growing up! HA!

I agree about the articulation. I think that's where DC direct and Marvel Legends should have merged styles. By the looks of it, DC Classics has nailed it. Great sculpts with ENOUGH articulation.

Ultraman...argh!...I am sad to admit I must google that name! I am thinking Ultra Boy from Legion of SH and Ultraa and Captain Ultra from marvel.

I have caught the first two issues on you tube believ it or not. It saves the money I don't have! You can keep up with Dark Reign that way too!

I loved that! I so dug Ollie in the back saying "oh boy" over and over! HAA!

I found that too! This website kicks arse!

watch-movies-online.tv

I reccently got Captain Atom and Black Adam infinite heroes on ebay! I am addicted!

Thanks for the clips, they rule!

I freakn LOVE Black Adam. I've only just bought the second book of Justice Society: Thy Kingdom Come, and he RETURNS. Well, some grave robbers try to rob his, Isis' and Osiris' graves, and the open the sarcophocus to find a sleeping theif...... One Word and one of them is toast.

SHAZAM.

I practically joygasmed when he turned up again.

I'd definitely recommend rereading 52, especially after having read it thoroughly once. There's so much background that you pick up on once you know how it all unfolds.

(Oh, and PLEASE tell me you saw Ralph and *name is banished to dead zone, epic fail* his wife in Blackest Night. OMG. I screamed in horror and joy, but mainly horor, as they KILLED Hawkman and Hawkgirl.)

I think we should work out a redesign for Aquaman between us that you could post. I sort of like the idea of him being bald - I'm just trying to work out how they could do it so that it makes sense..... I mean, since he's curse depended on having blond hair and blue eyes. I'm tempted to suggest a sort of Hydroman form that he may be able to shift into, but I think that a lot of the charm of Aquaman was that he didn't really have too many gimmicks; like Captain Marvel. They both have super strength, and other things that set them apart - but they're not power-sluts like Supes.

Ok, since I have the next (near enough) two weeks of work for my Birthmas, I shall have to see if I get the chance to throw something together.

My ML list consists of:
Cap
Iron Man
Hulk
Toad
Dr. Doom
Namor
The Thing
The Human Torch
Sabretooth
Colossus
Reed Richards
Nick Fury
Thor
Wonder Man
Spidey
Daredevil
Elektra
Punisher
Black Suit Spidey (I wrote a letter when I was little to get one sent to me FREE, then I broke his arm, or rather RHINO did, so I had to buy another one. About 2 years ago. ARGH!)
Rhino

There are probably others; I've lost track, and until I move them into the girlfriend's house, there's no real way of telling.

I've always been after Deadpool, Juggernaut, Yellow Jacket, Guardian, She-Hulk and Vision. There are a couple of others that are pretty cool, but none that I screamed at when I saw them in a shop and had no money. There were a couple of the BAF that I like the look of, such as Ares, Galactus and Apocalypse.

Yeah, I completely agee. I LOVE the DC Direct, Alex Ross style Starman. It's absolutely beautiful in it's detail - it's like his suit is LAYERED, and it's slightly transparent. F**kin' AWESOME, I'd definitely recommend it.

Ultraman was the evil Supes from a different world. He was actually really cool, and it made you sort of glad that Supes was a boyscout.

I KNOW!!! That was frakn awesome. I loved that he was like "(Canary's gunna kill me) I'm coming with you." And when Hal mad Supergirl cry. That was BRILLIANT. I have a book that came out in a bout '07, and they actually teamed up for something or other, and she kept flirting with him, and he was like "She's 17, She's 17, She's 17", sheer brilliance.

I have now bookmarked that site, thanks!

I am soo Googling Black Adam Infinite Hero right now!

And you're more than welcome. I found a funny one from Batman Brave and The Bold, where he takes out Guy Gardner with ONE PUNCH. I actually laughed my arse off, it was freakn AMAZING.

Yeah Adam has really stepped into the spotlight. I still don't think we've gotten the Black Adam VS Superman story we deserve.

SHAZAM indeed!

Yeah, I am buying that one and Flash rebirth. I almost shit my pants! Ralph and Sue were being soooo uncharacteristically mean. (damn that's a big word!) They are mean ass zombies and I love it. I wanted them back and, well I guess I got my wish, sorta!

I actually doodled some aqua pencils after last time we typed. Yeah, it's really hard to think of something novel and fitting. I like the official in continuity revamps to retain at least a portion of the characters original flavor. Black Lightning for example. I absolutely love him and was cool with the bald thing. I just felt going skin tight was wrong. Too much blue beetle meets lightning lad. I bought the infinite hero figure anyway. oh well. Geo-Force, another favorite (I was a HUGE outsiders fan) worked okay I guess, I always liked his green and yellow though. He has lots of potential that's untapped. He is royalty and should be played up like Captain Britian.

Okay, sorry, that was a ramble tangent. Like I was saying though, Aquaman has been through so many phases recently I don't even know what's going on with his look. I will try to lay some inks on my doodles and see what you think.

Toad! HAHA! You bought Toad! Joking of course I always loved him. I was most pissed about his changes in the movie. Should have totally been a short fat little creep!

Deadpool: Yeah gotta get his newest figure.
Juggernaut: I want him too, but will settle for the short figure when it comes out.
Yellow Jacket: I guess for Hank, the version I always wanted was either the original Giant Man suit or his Ant-Man suit.
Guardian: If you mean from Alpha FLight, I just got him for 5 bucks on ebay! The Purple Mohawk guardian, I didn't even know they made him! I will have to google a pic!

She-Hulk and Vision: Must haves! (Unless it's the puke yellow vision!

Yeah, the starman outfit is kick ass, I can't buy any legion figs though because I would sell my wife to get the rest!!

If I were to buy a legion figure it would be...Brainiac 5, Chameleon Boy, Blok, Bouncing Boy or Tellus. Always dug Sensor Girl too.

Ultraman...holy sheeet...I am so ashamed. I totally know him, I wasn't thinking the right earth! Earth 3!!! Superwoman, Power Ring, et al!

Speaking of Ollie you caught the scene with Clayface coming onto him in JUSTICE right? Shaped as BC? Then Ralph tarping over Clayface as Clayface chewed through him!?!? My all time favorite Ralph moment!!!

Thanks for that clip, I had caught that before. I am assuming you read that in the Justice League series where that happened? Black Canary comes in after and Beetle is laughing, she is so pissed that she missed the punch!

Did you have that Blackest Night dream after reading the newest issue? If not, I won't spoil it, but holy sheeet! I guess everybody will end up coming back after all! After the White LAnterns show up!!

until next type...

Black Adam vs Superman. I can't help but think that of an alternate ending to the Captain Marvel/Superman fight:

All goes exactly the same, up to the point where Superman grabs Adam and holds him up to the lightning bolt. He reverts back to the thief he is, pulls a lump of kryptonite from his pocket, then yells SHAZAM, and thoroughly fries Superman.

When they were telling Karter that Hawkgirl never loved him, to give in to his rage.... Holy Shit, is Johns twisted or what?! I think he has fast become one of my favourite writers; definitely up there with Moore, Gaiman, Bendis, Jason Aaron, Brian Azzarello, and of course, Ennis.

I completely agree; as much as I'd love to see Aquaman go for a new look, I'm not sure what would suit, pay homage to and still look original enough, to be cool. His new look should take into account his abilities AND his heritage. I'm looking forward to seeing what sorta ideas you've come up with.

I HAD to - I wanted the complete series..... After that, though, I started only buying the ones I thought looked good. I still think that the Hulk and Cap from the first Series are my favourites, with Collossus, Sabretooth and Thor making up the respective top five in terms of being well-crafted. I forgot to mention, I also have the yellow and blue Wolverine that came out in series... 3 I think. But I ALWAYS wanted the orange and tan costume, that was my fave until I started reading the new X-Force.

I did mean Alpha Flight Guardian; but HOLY SHIT, how awesome would it be to have the Imperial Guard Guradian?!

As for Vision, I always liked his pre-Onslaught costume: he had a green cape, and didn't have the yellow underwear over green trousers. I always felt that he had so much awesomeness to give and it was never really put to use; much like Wonder Man, who seemed to get a lot of attention after the Avengers returned from MHR universe; he kept coming back to help Scarlet Witch in the first few issues, and beat down all the villains.

I mean, the dude's stronger than Thor. A guy THAT strong deserves some credit. His energy form was always my favourite look for him; freakn wicked cool. I dunno where he's gone recently, though. Must admit, I'm slightly disappointed in Marvel for not doing more with him over the last few years. Yes, he was in the post Initiative Avengers, and he and Sentry (ANOTHER MUST HAVE!!! Am currently locked in an Ebay Battle for him!!! (Sorry, I'll geek out over Sentry in a bit....) Trashed a few Satellites to stop Ultron (in female form. If they made a Marvel Legend of that, I'd so buy it. Sentry vs Female Ultron was F**KING IMMENSE), but after that? Fade to background....

Sorry. Rant over.

Starman's currently in Justice Society, and by God is he fantastic. That's the range that the figure's from; Series one of the Justice Society range. The others are Jay Flash, Alan Scott and Sandman (Grumble. I'll rant about THAT later as well.) Dude, trust me, you cannot appreciate how BEAUTIFUL that action figure is until you've bought it. Seriously. The stars on the suit are silver glitter, and all internal of the figure. So it ACTUALLY looks how the suit is meant to be, a map of the multiverse. Seriously. Buy it in secret, then take up a second job moonlighting. It's SO worth it. (I am currently selling my body on the street to pay for it. )

AH! DON'T TELL ME!!! I haven't been able to keep track after the issue I mentioned, when Clayface blows himself up in that building, then Prometheus poisons that dude, because my little sister has been going to my local comic shop and buying off my standing order - which means I've been missing out on X-Force, Blackest Night, Dark Avengers, The Boys, Deadpool, Flash Rebirth, Justice League: Cry For Justice, Batman/Superman (which has turned insanely lame and I'm going to cancel anyway), Hulk (Which has gotten just plain STUPID. I KNEW Loeb would do that; he does really well for about two runs and then does an abominable third run, and lets himself down - case in point, Superman/Batman, Hulk and Ultimates) and so many others I can't even keep track. It's annoying, because I now have NO IDEA what Marvel and DC are up to, and I don't know if she's planning to give me them for my birthmas (on Friday) or Christmas!!!

(WHITE LANTERNS?!! Dude, what a TEASE!!!)

Awesome, I want to see that now!

You know, Johns is kicking arse. It's what they should always do. Find those that know every corner of the universe and love them all and orchestrate the cohesive continuity and also respecting each character's ties to the history.
The folks in charge of DC movies should have been doing the same there. We should have already had a Flash, GL, WW and Legion movies. Not to mention Doom Patrol, Metal Men, Plastic Man, Aquaman, I mean come on. Learn from the mistakes and get going right? Why take a property that has been successful as is for decades and alter it so drastically until is is almost an alternate reality tale? Let's make Penguin a mutated freak from the sewer. Kingpin is no longer layered with fatty muscle, nor anglo. Superman has a son with Lois Lane. The Green Goblin wears power ranger armor. Toad is slender and young. Daredevil is a horrible actor. Two-Face is pink. Okay, sorry, I get pissed when I type about that sheeet!

Yes, I agree with your list of names. I have always loved JM DeMatteis and Keith Giffen as well.

I will get to those, I swear it, I just amd trying to make a deadline for Secret Wars, it's tomorrow and I wanna get two pieces in!

Wolvie's orangish/brownish costume was always my fav too, I think because I got into marvel through secret wars.

I think they did make one of Guardian a long time ago, maybe in the old fantastic four cartoon line? Or xmen line? I will look.

If I had to pick one Imperial Guard, I would go with...the one that looked like a mix between colossus and the newest costume of starman.

I saw a little of Wonder Man that you mentioned in Initiative. Some in Ms. Marvel I read, a friend lends his to me. He buys her book consistently. His fetish, I kid him. Speaking of fetishes, you and Simon's energy form...you and starman's costume!! Mwahah, I bet you go crazy over Eternity! And what about Wondergirl/Donna Troy/Troia!

OOPS! Well, the way I worded it, you won't get the whole idea till you read it. Plus, you know what's going on as it happens, Ollie and Dinah are not so keen!

You can catch up on a ton of Dark Avengers on you tube, that's the way i have read it. some generous folks have scanned a lot of the comics. I've seen Emma Frost unleash Sentry and throw him in Osbourne's face, Hulk & Son vs Wolverine & son. All X-men & New Mutants vs Dark Avengers. It's worth your time to check them out!

I also got to read the cry for justice there.

I read the first few issues of Red Hulk and saw that red-she-hulk was now there and some ads for fall of the hulks. I am so-so on the story line, want to see if the ending redeems it. Any ideas on Red Hulk? I vote for Willie Lumpkin, the FF's mailman!!!

Oh and just so you don't think I am spoiling Blackest night, there has been no mention of White Lanterns, I just figure, that has to be the direction it's heading. You have the whole spectrum and black now representing death. it's only logical to have white bring all the dead heroes and villains back. Or MAYBE...just MAYBE we will get a Brown Lantern!!! Grey Lantern? Turquiose lantern???

Babbitman In reply to Lordwormm [2009-12-05 16:05:11 +0000 UTC]

Ok, proper reply now.....

I was a bit dubious when it was announced that they'd be bringing back Barry; he is after all the only major comic book character to have been killed off and stayed down. But so far, Johns has handled Rebirth quite admirably. Like you said, he understands and respects every corner of the DCU, and it shows in his work.

As much as I'm desperate to see movies of any and ALL of those characters, 'm not going to hold my breathe. A lot of the characters, a bit like some of Marvels (Spiderman & X-men), are owned by different studios - and most of them are too reluctant to let DC make a great movie by giving up the rights. Every time it looks like there might be something in the works, the Justice League movie gets tabled. Annoyingly, I was IMDB earlier in the week, and found out that MARK MILLAR actually wrote TWO scripts for Superman Returns; but Warner Bros turned him down.

They are definitely great writers. Another couple of guys doing a great job are Christopher Yost and Matt Fraction. I picked up an issue of his Astonishing X-men, and it looks like he's sticking to Joss Whedon's characterisation of most of the main guys - I'd recommend grabbing a copy of Issue 517. It's ACTUALLY much like it's name: ASTONISHING.

Donna Troy is a saucy wench!!! Hahaha, no it's easily explained - I created a character when I was abou 10 that had a similar costume to Starman; and as for Wonder Man? The dude trounced Thor in his first appearence. I like the idea that he's made of energy, and he beat the snot out of some quite considerable names. Someone mentioned that he had his own series, but that it didn't do too well - I'm still hunting it down on eBay!!!

Willy Lumpkin. You know, that would make a great "make Mine Marvel" moment - "So until Willy Lumpkin becomes Rulk.... Aw, crap." To be honest, I went into my local comic shop this week and cancelled Rulk. I can't be doing with it. I want to know who Rulk is, and that's all. I did think it was Samson, but that theories been disproved. I did also wonder if it was General Ross, but I'm still in two minds over it.

The whole Rulk series has just gone completely tits up. It started off really well, and true to Loeb's style, he took it in a ridiculous and pointless direction - I mean, what was the point of the whole "Defenders/Offenders" thing? What a waste of time, money and effort.

Fall of Hulks does look quite interesting, but I really won't do much more than flick through it, if I'm honest.

That's what I was going to ask you: Sentry. Fan or not?

"MARK MILLAR actually wrote TWO scripts for Superman Returns; but Warner Bros turned him down."

WOW. Just wow. I read a long while back that someone similarly had written a great Flash script with Jay, Barry and Wally AND Joss W. did Wonder Woman. The studios did likewise. Stupid, stupid moves.

I've listened to some reviews on youtube that made the same statements. I wish I could budget for X-men. Maybe I will squeeze it in.

I totally owned the Wonder Man first issue from the 90's. I can't imagine it would cost you too much. I don't remember much, but have feeling it focused on his acting "career" being interrupted with super heroing.

We may just have to see that original character you created. Ahem, to prove it's not a cosmos-suit fetish!!

I haven't kept up with Hulk in so long, since Dale Keown probably. I would have no idea, but yeah, Ross and Samson were the first that came to mind. I also thought maybe Punisher, but that was before I knew more. I tried to piece together some of the clues he spat out, but I can't see the ultimate reveal being worth it. Plus he killed the freaking Abomination!!! HAs he or will he come back? I always loved Abomination. I also think they could have done something way different with Rick Jones. Why just a blue version of abom? I mean throughout history, Gamma rays have stayed green!! Every mutation has been fairly different from the others, but all of a sudden, we are tasting the rainbow. (excuse the skittles reference!)

Like GL are we going to get a Orangulk, Yellulk, Indulk and Violulk? Please no!!!

"The whole Rulk series has just gone completely tits up." Awesome phrase!

"Defenders/Offenders"...I don't totally agree, but I know where you are coming from. For the middle of this storyline?!?! I know, however, if it had been a short mini series unto itself, it is rife with tasty possibilities! Cosmic beings, picking heroes and villains from various points in time to battle...classic comic glory there. But to have Red Hulk knock out Uatu and then decimate everyone else...then leave it flat with no fallout? I didn't think it fit either.

Here's my take on Sentry. I was waaay out of comics for a while when all that happened. I picked up the occasional Wizard mag to keep up (no internet!!). So I caught up late after the big joke had been revealed. I think I would have been pissed if I had believed that the old sketches were found, yadda, yadda. So mostly I have just read his bio and from what I understand he WAS actually a part of Marvel's history? I really like the idea of him being split. They really could have delved into Moon Knight there, they already had a schizo. Also it really seemed Marvel wanted to have their own "Superman", as if Thor, Hyperion, Wonder Man, Hercules, and others weren't enough.

However, I have read enough of him to accept him with open arms. I caught Emma Frost freeing him, I've seen him interact with the Dark Avengers and a few times with the NEw Avengers. I think I read one (maybe out of continuity) drawn in classic marvel style where he fought Tinkerer and Mad Thinker?

I like him fine, but he hasn't won my heart like he has yours. That tells me I should get even more familiar!

Well, until Jeph Loeb writes "Wolverine: Enter Bizzaroine"...wait...after Rulk, that might happen...never mind...sheesh!

Also since you're now my official comic geek out partner...I am going to try and end these with a few questions...

These are mine, what are yours?
I know we will want to list twelve, but I am forcing myself!

I shit you not, my man. he submitted one to Warner Bros, and they said no, then when he heard Bryan Singer was attached, he did another one and they STILL shot him down. Go on IMDB for verification; it's in the trivia section.

Yeah, I heard Joss Whedon was going to be handling Wonder Woman - but I heard that about 2 years ago, and surprise, surprise, DC have nothing to show for it.

What gets me is that DC now haven't really got any graphic novels that they could feasibly put into the movies to beat Marvel - Marvel are doing the Ultimates style realistic movies, and making the movies for the fans (AT LAST!!!), but DC went, "Ok, what have we got that can't be made in to a movie? Iron Man looks too good."

"Hey, remember that graphic novel Alan Moore did that he wrote so it was deliberately unfilmable?"

"Oh, Watchmen?"

"Yeah, lets do that."

"Ok, but get rid of the squid."

"Deal."

I must admit, the only thing from DC that I'm looking forward too atm is SMALLVILLE!!! I'm dying to see Bruce Wayne appear.

I mean they wouldn't have even had to show it, just a bunch of CGI tentacles busting everything up!! Oh it pissed me off.

Also...Smallville, Have you heard??? J...S...A...

I've ben watching on channel 131, but they haven't posted episode 10 yet - has it come out?!

I think it was a lot better than I thought it ould be, but there were some small changes that bugged the shit outta me. In particular, why have Nightowl see Dr. Manhatten kill Rorschach? He should be inside, having sex with Miss Jupiter. That way, when Jon sees them that last time, you know that he's allowing them to move on with their lives, and giving them his blessing.

I think it's because Smallville has always been so stripped down, and more realistic - although there is NO WAY I'd complain about them being in it, it's like... Yeah, it's like seeing main stream Marvel characters in the Ultimates universe.

I don't know quite how they're going to tackle Clark's costume; I know he's now wearing glasses (again, scweamed at that), but they can't plead ignorance. And giving him a hood or mask would be a bit lame.

AND WE NEED BRUCE TO APPEAR!!!

Lordwormm In reply to Babbitman [2009-12-12 08:31:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the sudden change from clark to supes will be hard. It seems they may keep him fairly anonymous at first. Bruce is a natural fit. They've altered continuity so much now, it would be hard to be angry at a bruce wayne cameo no matter how far fetched.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Babbitman In reply to Lordwormm [2009-12-12 12:56:53 +0000 UTC]

They could actually handle the cameo REALLY easily. In series.... 6 or 7, Lex says to Ollie, when talking about boarding school: "There was the old gang - You, me, *unimportant name* and BRUCE...."

The creator always said, he never wanted Clark flying around in tights and a cape, this was an ORIGIN story - but it's changed so much since the start, and they've brought in so many characters - and now Clark's actually wearing the S and running around Metropolis? I dunno how they could do the costume and make it feasible that the world wouldn't realise it was Clark.
