I am not sure, but he's floated around on a scrap of paper for years. He may have been inspired by the Shoveler but I don't have dates on so many of my dudes.

You hit it almost exactly in the middle - "Nunchucks" or "Nunchaku". [link]
But look at it this way - at least you have a character with a distinctive name!
