It reminds me of something from a Say Yes to the Dress special I saw.

*goes to look for it on YouTube*

To save yourself the trouble of watching the whole thing, start this at 36 minutes in: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqgEm_…
The ceiling. It's a great example of throwing away money because earlier in the episode she said just those ceiling flowers cost tens of thousands of dollars and they were only up for the ceremony, but still.

I know! It really makes you wonder what they do with them afterward. Do they have some kind of display case in their mansions for them? Or are they just like everyone else and keep them in a box in the closet and never take them out again? The older I get, the less and less weddings make sense to me. What if they get divorced only a year later?? Then what was all that for?

At the dry cleaner where I work now, there is a wedding gown in a huge box that has been sitting there since last July (so says the ticket). Apparently the woman who owned it brought it in to be preserved and then never came in to pick it up, and when they called to ask her why she hadn't gotten it yet, she said she didn't want it anymore because she was already divorced from that marriage and got married to someone else! I don't know what the dress looks like because there isn't a window in the box. Maybe I'll peek at it on Monday. haha

bahahhahahahahahhah lol imagine those that get married and divorced in the same day you know its happened hahhahahhahhaha thousands of down the drain...shoot why get married anymore you dont know people really and even if you do you still dont ....id have half a mind to go back in time and warn myself of a few things hahhhahahhaa.....hehehe that would make a great photoshoot something old...borrowed and blue or even just a b&w shot of the dress that would be cool she dont want it but i dont know there might be some issues there lol

Well I took a look at it today. The inner box has a large window so I didn't have to open it or physically remove the dress from the preservation display, although I'm sure that doesn't matter anymore. It's nice. I wouldn't wear it, though. I'm pretty sure it's this exact one: www.davidsbridal.com/Product_A… My manager has no idea what to do with it. I think we should get her to sign something saying she doesn't want it and then sell it. That's still a lot of money, but kind of comforting to know she didn't spend thousands on it at least.

I feel the same way! I was almost married once but then as soon as the guy's parents divorced, he snapped and started emotionally abusing me. It was a really bad situation. It's kind of what kickstarted my negative attitude toward them because I was seeing just how much crap you have to put up with when planning one as well as most prominently, your point about not knowing someone you think you know. And then seeing friends go through all the stress involved, it just doesn't seem healthy.
