also?? i realized salt wouldnt know any bad words bc she barely talked to anybody other than her mom and dad??? so??????? i made a prompt that i thought had a lot of funny potential

some of these suck bc it's late and i didn't have much time but i wanted to get them posted so here they are

Monster Eyes
Salt has managed to find her way down to the underground lake, and has also managed to memorize the way, so she doesn't have to rely on the help of her lousy (cute but incompetent) parrot guide to get there. She is relaxing in the depths when she feels ripples on the water, and lifts her head out of the water just enough to listen for who's there - and just enough to scare them, too.

Chummy
Salt figures that she should probably make some friends if she's going to be stuck here a while, but she has absolutely no idea where to start. It's not like she's actually had friends before. Of course, there would always be the students that approached her first, and she might seem to mind - but really, she's grateful that she doesn't have to flounder for a good conversation starter, because she would be awful at that.

Etching
Salt's etching classes went well last year, and she's enjoying them again this year. But the one thing she doesn't appreciate is when they're assigned to work with partners to have a conversation in etching. She usually can't stand the dragons she gets partnered with, and none of them seem to understand how important the language is to her - until one day, she gets a translation partner she gets along with quite nicely.

Just a Talk
Noticing that Salt seems troubled, a dragon chooses to approach her after summer break and ask how she's been, even if only to get her mind off of whatever has happened.

Beached
Salt has made up her mind: She's going to live in a different kingdom when it comes time to leave the academy again! She can't read or speak Aquatic, and no one makes the effort to help her by translating it into Etching when she's at home. Plus, her younger sister is growing up, and Salt knows she puts a strain on the home - having to put up with her and Cascade must be hard on her parents, and her sister needs parents that can look after her. So Salt has made up her mind to leave, though she had no idea where to go.... Perhaps someone can help her sort out this problem.

Oh, Look At Those Eyes!
Someone in one of Salt's classes has been staring at her a lot lately. She can tell because she gets this itchy feeling under her scales, like ants are crawling between them and marching on her skin. Finally, she's paired with them for a class project, and she knows it's them because they are staring at her from right. There. Beside her. Unable to withhold her irritation, she finally confronts them - and is pleasantly surprised by their reason for staring.

A Story to Tell
Sometimes, when Salt wakes up in the middle of the night, she likes to go to one of the many ledges that lead out of the Academy and pretend she's an important dragon, and people are waiting to hear what she has to say below her; then she will start to recite one of her many stories, coming up with everything in the moment, talking out loud just so she doesn't feel as lonely. Because it's not like someone will hear her and find her if it's the middle of the night, right?
