Description
When it comes time for Tabbris's turn to place her hand over Graw'Falla's, she finds herself reluctant. This man doesn't seem to be someone she would get along with - he seems impossibly high and mighty because of his religion, and she doesn't think he'd take it very well if she told him that she doesn't think any of the gods exist.

But she keeps her trap shut and does as she's told, just to pass the class. The little old man seems just as reluctant to touch her hand when he sees her third eye - something of which she isn't ashamed - but takes it anyway, and the two work together to heal a runeboo that's been brought in from off the streets, which was previously covered in scratches and bruises and shook violently in Graw'Falla's lap. It seems to calm as the pain it felt melted away, and Tabbris takes the runeboo with no small amount of surprise when it is handed to her when they are done.

"Try to heal the rest of its injuries on your own," Graw'Falla says gruffly. "You took to the light well, youngling. I'm sure you can handle a few more scrapes on your own."

Tabbris holds the runeboo gingerly and finds a space in the chant to sit among the other students and those being treated, feeling a twinge of satisfaction at the reluctance on Graw'Falla's face to admit her success. As she heals up the last small cuts on the runeboo's underbelly, it curls up in her lap with a small Kwoo, snuggling into her fur with a content look.

She recalls that Graw'Falla said this runeboo was brought in from the streets, and wonders what will happen to it after this. Someone will probably be charged with taking it to Kalypso's caravan, but the scared little thing looks so precious curled in her lap that she can't bear the thought. She decides with only a moment's hesitation that this runeboo is hers now. She's going to take care of it and it will be good. ... But first, she should probably ask Kalypso for some pet food and advice.
