Description
It had been a few days since Vanada had seen that blue auri, and they'd been trying to learn to live with their strange new abnormalities, which floated around them no matter how much they moved about. Thankfully, they'd seen a few other auri going around with them, so maybe it wasn't somthing abnormal. Perhaps it was just something new. Still, not many had it, and combined with their deformed mouth... it bothered them. A lot.

When the fair came into town, they considered not going at all. A lot of aurii were going to be there on any given day, they knew. It was confirmed when they began to hear others in the auribell talking about the fair in the next few days, whether it was about when they were going to go or their adventures if they had already spent some time there.

Despite themself, Vanada began to feel a little twinge of longing (and perhaps a bit of jealousy). They wanted to go to the fair, too, but they were still carefully avoiding any other aurii due to their abnormality. Staying away began to get harder and harder after they saw some of the other aurii bringing home cool things, and while they weren't exactly the covetous type, Vanada was still only a child. They wanted cool things to play with and brag about too, even if they had themself convinced otherwise.

Finally, Vanada was able to move themself to go to the fair. They didn't want to just stroll in, though. They were certain if they did, they would be met with stares. Even if they were only being self-conscious, they couldn't help thinking that someone would realize they wore their mask because something was wrong with them underneath it. So, instead of just waltzing in, they decided to start out with something they felt more comfortable with.

Passing the day by aurii-watching was something they'd done before for fun, but sitting perched in the trees just outside the fairgrounds made them feel a sense of.... they didn't know the word for it. Sadness? No, not quite. Envy? Perhaps a little, but they didn't think that was the right word. It took them a long time before the right word sprang to mind.
