Wow! This is beautiful! If you hadn't said it was a photograph, I would've thought you digitally created it via photoshop. I love the
textures and the crispness of the photo! Amazing shot!

I've been to NYC several times, only for a couple of days but I agree that it is the best city. Once, I stayed in an old hotel which was originally the office building of the Life Magazine back in the 30s and the neighborhood was very much like this. It's amazing that how this city can be both nostalgic and modern, decreipt yet aesthetic, strange and familiar at the same time. Your photo reflects the spirit of Manhattan perfectly

Man, that's raw. I really dig the texture of the buildings along with the tones. The monochromatic colour make it sorta look like one big piece of building. But that's just me.
Another great shot.

Fantastic... evokes the feelings of the 40s... at least to me it does... not that I was alive then... but if I was, well, I'm sure I'd look at this and go "Man, that's just the forties... only I remember more colour back then... I think, but I'm so old I can't be sure"

never been to NYC ... but I thought Manhattan real estate prices were so high that a block like that would have been snapped up by developers long ago and turned to apartments / offices ? So you are staying in NYC?

No, but i go there quite often...it is a 2 hour train ride from Philly.
As a matter of fact, i will be there in the morning, not for pleasure but a trip to the hospital with my boyfriend.
If there is one piece of advice i could ever give, it is go to NYC...it is the best city in the world. I have been to 27 countries and countless cities, and new york is everything....everything you could ever imagine. I adore london, worship paris, but they are not new york.....
BTW, i always wanted to tell you, your wife is stunnning....you are lucky, but you know that.

I've lived in NYC my whole life (save for a few college years in NH) and nary a day passes where I don't consciously acknowledge how passionately in love I am with this city. I'd love to live elsewhere like paris, london and san francisco each for like 6 months or so to gain some new experiences but this will always be the home will return to.
Thanks for your little but very beautiful photgraphic homage to it. I'd love to see more not on DA. I've found I've not yet been able to do my love for the city justice with my own photograhy... yet.

Thanks, you can shoot with her if we hook up on your next Europe trip!
I've always wanted to go to NYC, but somehow every time I travel for work or pleasure there always seems another country that ends up taking priority over the USA. I've travelled to 15 countries and lived in 4 for longer than 6 months ... but never been to the USA once!
It's a must do in the future, but who knows when

I may be making myself look quite dumb here but the arrangement of the buildings makes them stand at to me, making this shot more 3DNYC

I love New York. I love how you can stumble upon these little peices of history in the middle of the big modern city. This photo captures the rife anonymity of the city perfectly.

like the tone and the composition. have you tried to correct for perspective? the wide angle lens gives a receding quality to the buildings, which i like very much, but i was just curious if you straightened all the vertical lines out if there would be a slightly different feel to it, like being trapped in that section of the city. just some thoughts...

Jeeze! Absoultely wondeful as usual. To me it almost seems subterranian with the larger buildings taking up all the room and not even a hint of sky. As if the building were an ancient ruin within a anthropological dig known as NYC. Neat!

The monochromatic colors really work here; the bleak, impersonal feeling that one can get in a large city. Very nice.
