i love how its soooo white on your skin but you still see every detail of the pigmentation of your skin, each tiny line, nothing is whited out from too much contrast

and such a clear eye

you always have a sad look about you

lorrainemd In reply to devilicious [2005-05-13 22:35:31 +0000 UTC]

funny you should say that i have a sad look all the time...
you know i am happy and chipper and goofy most of the time, but for a few years now, there is such a sadness in my heart that exudes out my eyes...maybe that is why i always hide them in photos.
it is disconcerting to look at every pic i have taken of myself in the past couple years and see that my head is always down, or eyes averted...despondancy.
hmmmm.....i think i need a drink.

This image portrays an absolute inner strength, yet something that's subtle also. Like saying, I'm not just a pretty face... or rather.... 'I'm not just made of steel.'
I like the way your arm is positioned, cradling your head but at the same time your face is looking towards the audience.

Beautiful shot Lorraine.
What sort of lighting did you use for this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lorrainemd In reply to austinslide [2005-05-13 16:45:18 +0000 UTC]

i actually used one bedroom lamplight (60w) and some ambient.
it is rare that i don't use my strobes when working indoors...but i was playing with my point and shoot....it is amazing how it is not in the equipment. not that good equipment doesn't make it easier.

austinslide In reply to lorrainemd [2005-05-13 17:55:59 +0000 UTC]

Interresting. Thanks for that. Ive recently been asking this of a lot of people as i just ordered a speedlite and am wondering if I need more. Almost all of my work has been done with ambient light or with bedroom/ study lamps. I'm glad to find that a lot of the people I have been asking are using the same. Its good because I am only asking if i particularly LIKE the lighting

this is the system i have. i have 3 heads for it and am currently working on getting more light shaping tools.
i love it more than life itself. it is expensive, but i need it for my work with models/headshots etc. it has made my life so much easier. But sometimes it precludes me from working with available light and this can produce some of the most beautiful results.
