Description I wanted to do an image that looked like a painting that might come to life as a scene in a movie.
The fall has always been associated with the beginning of the death cycle for me. Hints of bittersweet morning always well up within me, as I watch the leaves fall in batches.

I love the colors. The tombstones look like ghosts, the leaves on the tree are beautiful and the woman is a great contrast with all the stillness, which means without her the picture still would've been beautiful but it's more lively and somehow more poignant with her in it, as if she's walking into the past. Great work.

The composition is great. The colours hold back the feeling of painting. A little more moody tone could have helped.

Indeed the photograph does have movie like lighting and life in it, contrasting the deathly colours and themes. The fall very much does parallel the beginning of death, of the human winter. Excellent image.

The composition is wonderful and I love the setting you chose. It's a beautiful shot, but I'm not sure the toning works with this one... for me at least... It just seem to screams digital, which goes counter to the otherwise old world feel.

Great composition and the sepia tone id very fitting; makes it look like an old photograph. The dress of the woman aids to that as well. The crookedness of all the headstones is very intriguing and/or scary.

loved it, really.
Too bad for the house (would look even better if it was in an open space), but that's a minor thing.

the photo seems to be a bit offset, if you look at the building in the background. The idea is ok and the model adds some atmosphere to the photo but angle just puts me off this photo.

C-Novack [2003-10-22 17:03:12 +0000 UTC]

The execution and composition is fabulous. The style of dress brings to mind the old world colonial days...ala late 1700's or early 1800's. Someone said it was a shame that there was a house in the background, I do not agree. I think the house adds a certain dimension to the photo for one can argue that the cemetary is a family cemetary. I believe back in those days some families had a cemetary located on the grounds surrounding their land. In my mind the lady is walking through and paying respects for those members of the "family tree" that has been laid to rest (and yes the tree in the shot is also a good addition for it calls to mind the thought of a "family tree". The sepia tone also adds to the look and feel for it adds to the feeling that the "time" is of the old world days dating back to the colonies.
