The tilt make all the difference. I really like the motive with the pale colors. Very calm. The horizon splits the image in two in a very quiet way. Mellow but not boring. I wish I could bring home photos like this from my vacation. All I get is the usual rainy picture with some famliy in one corner or some museum

a serene motion, because the angle is very good - the oblique lines are so powerful.
I love the clouds, as if they, as the pier, were leading the eye into the peace down at the center of the picture.

I think I remember this place from during world war 2...I remember running down to the end of the pier and boarding my PT boat to go night hunting for Jap destroyers...
