Alucard196 surprised me with this out of nowhere. If you don't agree that this is the most adorable wholesome, beautiful scene ever I don't know what to say to you. Look at her!!! With one simple picture Alucard convinced me that Aurelia has now canonically fully recovered from her earlier ordeals and how she looked in the aftermath . And honestly I think she's got more hair than ever now. I could look at the lovely lines of all those lazy curling tresses all day. Look at how they follow the contour of her back!

So Aurelia has been around for milennia. She was Medea back when Jason was searching for the Golden Fleece (She was also the golden fleece). She emerged as a struggling fashion model and rode the wave of fame she got by openly showing off her rae (her fur) and the mystery of whether or not it was real (it is) created such a buzz around her that she became a movie star for a while. Her hair seems tied to her sense of self worth. When Sylvia and Aubrey approached her to use her fainn powers to help in a desperate fight, Aurelia refused and was forced to admit she wasn't doing fainnkind any real favors. In the wake of this realization she swooped in to save Sylvia from Imogen, losing her own long hair in the process.

As she slowly recovered she was haunted by the brutal shearing she endured. She'd been around for a long time and not been so scared and alive feeling in centuries. So she was drawn to emulate those feelings of terror and fear and adrenaline. Heven intervened to scare her straight, but not long after she found herself in the company of Sam . Sam at first was more than happy to indulge Aurelia's need to relive the thrill and terror of a haircut by playfully snipping the end of a curl off here and there. At first to tease the poor thing, but eventually as she caught on and developed a soft spot for ol' goldilocks, she did it to satiate the fainn's urges in a safe limited way that would prevent her from doing something really stupid.

During this time she recovered beautifully and began to open her palatial estate to other fainn and fainnblooded youths struggling to find a safe place to live. Alice herself lived with Aurelia for a while , and still uses her last name (Davenshire) as a tribute for helping her when she needed it. Aurelia found herself feeling very fulfilled and thought she was doing great helping, but it all came crashing down when Cheryl reached out to her in desperation to restore Anassa's shorn hair. Aurelia couldn't do it, and her failure broke her so much that when Anassa began cutting off Aurelia's hair and rae in a bout of absolute frustration, the fainn just accepted it as her fate and let it happen. Sad times.

But now look at her. A healthy regimen of Sam's "trims" (Sam would never cut a millimeter of hair or rae from Aurelia ever again, not that Aurelia knows that. But she still likes to tease and pretend) and really, Sam's unwavering devotion re-established Aurelia's sense of purpose and resulted in her hair and rae regrowing to the extent the two no longer need blankets.

But Aurelia still has her skeletons, such as her affair with the archfainn Aestas and the resulting daughter she has with him, Daphne. If Daph ever made an attempt to contact Aurelia, and Sam learned of her infidelity, that might doom all the lovely golden fluff we see here...
