I'm sorry that all I ever draw anymore is robots. I can't stop. Really. I cant.I'm on a meme filling in spree. I know this is unspeakably OBNOXIOUSLY late as to when the meme came out, but I did it anyways, lol.
First time actually drawing strait into the computer without a scan first besides little 5 minute scribbles. I've got a lot of practice to do if I ever actually want to be somewhat good at digital drawing, lol. But none of this is serious anyways, and I figure its alright to practice on dumb doodles.
Fffff. I tried to make this mostly PG, but I don't think I can do a whole list without making a handful of inappropriate jokes. -_-

Reply = late. Me = sorry, but also horrendously confused as to why I can't find the reply I knΓ³w I made three days ago.
Okay, see if I can remember:
Unless I don't remember well, all stasis pods in BW were Maximal. Hence, Silverbolt is a Maximal by 'birth'. He was not programmed and/or awakened by the Preds either, leaving his status unchanged. He joined the Predacons because he mistook them for good people, thereby technically never joining thΓ©m.
What I like about the couple is the way TFwiki puts it, presenting them as a yin-yang kinda deal. Mind, I do not dislike or disapprove of the pairing, but I do dislike how they got together and elements of how they stayed together. I'm pretty sure it could've easily been done with more care for their previous established personae. Blackarachnia's remark that Silverbolt is a hunk, for instance, on itself could've been all background needed for a situation that gets those two talking and move on from there. The whole "It is wrong to kill a woman"-part as intro to their relation? Not good on BA's part, no matter how much Silverbolt learnt from it.
I'd have to rewatch the show to have a clear idea of how BA manipulated Silverbolt, so I can't say who was 'worse'. But the thing is that, indeed, Blackarachnia is a character of manipulation. She's good at it, and we as audience know she is and therefore can tell when she's doing it. Silverbolt, not so much. So, in my opinion, whenever he manipulates it's worse from an outer-outer view because the audience itself is not made aware of the manipulation and thereby is inclined to be oblivious to wrong morals he might practice.
Being a feminist has little to do with perception of fiction. A person has to be within the beholder's moral view, a character only has to act coherent and function within the story (although being not (utterly) morally dispicable tends to increase likeability). For instance, Aria from the Aria comics supposedly is a feministic character, but I hate her deeply. Aside from her blatant Sueness, she does not act coherent in her feministic views. One moment she's aggressively offended people don't believe a woman could be a warrior, the very next she doesn't get how people could hope for a woman to do what is a "man's job". Either side could make her an interesting character, but the incoherence of those two sides together -random which one is in charge- makes her a horrible character. On the other hand, I often like baddies who are sexist, because most of the time that sexism is played as ultimate proof just how vile they are and how much they should be defeated (G1 Megatron is a victim of this in fanfics. Nobody remembers Nightbird?). Admittedly, that like is of schadenfreude level, because it's usually an indication how bad the story will be and I just revel in trainwreck syndrome. But, yeah, it does make me like those characters.
Transmutate is my favourite BW episode and part of why it stings me so badly Silverbolt kept insisting on BA's inner goodness. Heck, he never even thought of attempting to have a chat with Rampage, and he saw right there that Rampage wasn't all evil in a conventional sense. Why Blackarachnia, why not anyone else? There's a few productional reasons for it, none of them off by any means. But in-universe, it makes Silverbolt not look entirely integer.
Agreed on the way Blackarachnia and Silverbolt fit each other and learn from each other. However, your remark on that Silverbolt views Blackarachnia as a potential powerful ally against Megatron is what I'm 'ranting' about. Why does he insist shΓ© changes? Why doesn't he wonder for even once if he should switch sides? He never bothered to try and see things from her pov. That's why I'm glad Megatron's plans would have eventually led to BA's death - it meant she had a good reason to abandon the Predacons, one not related to Silverbolt. It helps me keep appreciation of them together.
Don't worry, you're not bashing on Animated. Mentioning a few developments you don't like is barely bashing, considering you'd most likely go on a squee-spree if I asked you what you like about the show.

I agree with Megatron. What DOES all those fangirls see him him?

PaperBerry In reply to NiGhT-sTaLkEr13 [2009-09-22 05:03:13 +0000 UTC]
Depends on what type of fangirls. What I consider the sane ones like him for his independence, sharp mind, unpredictability (i.e., you'll know he'll (attempt to) betray someone, but who, when and how are the big question), hilarious but not undeserved ego, multi-talent, etc.
Probably also helps he's quite a handsome character, as beauty always gets you free fandom points. >_>
Then there's the obnoxious other fangirls, but they shall not be talked about.

I love him mostly for how pathetic he is. I mean, he is a dastardly, evil little bastard... but I just end up feeling sorry for him because he just can't seem to do anything right. For someone who is so determined and narrow minded in his goals, his fail rate is practically 100 percent. He wants to be taken seriously so bad and he wants everyone to fear and respect and worship him... but everyone just ends up laughing at him.
You kind of have to admire his devotion to overthrowing Megatron though. No matter how many times he fails, you know he'll just get up and try again.

PaperBerry In reply to LostSlivers [2009-09-22 05:42:38 +0000 UTC]
That's what I meant with "hilarious ego". And I do think you aren't being fair to Starscream, as his fail rate is definitely no less than Megatron's. Oddly though, that guy never is felt pity for. Starscream played an important part in preventing Sub-Atlantica from betraying the Decepticons, got Nightbird out of the way, would have been succesful in killing Optimus and Elita if it hadn't been for Shockwave's "better idea", was succesful in getting rid of the Aerialbots, constantly had a card to play during the Combaticon episodes, etc. etc. Besides, he's the second-in-command and there's a reason he is despite his treacherous ways.
Also, Decepticons are a bunch of jerks.

LostSlivers In reply to PaperBerry [2009-09-22 06:00:18 +0000 UTC]
Very true. I actually do feel pity for Megatron. I forget where, but I remember hearing how his Voice actor tried to mix a bit of pain and desperation into the character while playing him. I think it translated very well.
In the original cartoon he is a villain who I can almost sympathize with. Who I can feel bad for. Because almost every fight ended in the Decepticons getting their asses handed to them and Megatron calling for a retreat. After he became Galvatron though, I kind of lost my sympathy for him. Simply because I was less fond of the character.
But in the current IDW universe I don't pity him at all. Or even Starscream for that matter. I think IDW (especially in All Hail Megatron) did a delightful job at making both of them much more sinister and threatening characters. I'm also a fan of the way they developed their relationship in AHM, with Megatron hinting at the fact that he respects, or even fears Starscream for his cunning and his fighting abilities.
Which Is why I'm Enjoying IDW's take on the G1 bots. The story and its characters are allowed to be a lot more frightening, and the world a lot darker than in the cartoon.

PaperBerry In reply to LostSlivers [2009-09-22 06:29:59 +0000 UTC]
Galvatron is a completely different entity. I sympathize with him for other reasons, like his flawed personality he is willing to fight for to keep regardless of the consequences. He's selfish, and possibly a bigger threat to his own troops than the Autbots, but he goes on stubbornly.
Yes, that's the room comics have. They don't have to be kid-friendly. I think IDW did go overboard on some points and I better avoid going on a rant that Furman should be kept away from any female character, but in all it does some interesting takes.

LostSlivers In reply to PaperBerry [2009-09-22 06:48:29 +0000 UTC]
Well I will agree with that. I wasn't too happy with the whole Arcee thing in the comics. (Which I'm assuming thats what your referring too?) Especially because I really like Arcee.
Galvatron was just to insane for my likening.
π: 0 β©: 1
PaperBerry In reply to LostSlivers [2009-09-22 07:06:44 +0000 UTC]
What else? Poor Arcee gets so rarely played as more than The Girl in fiction. Most of her profiles are downright embarassing to read. Have you ever? I strongly prefer to take her characterization from fiction observation and ignore the profiles. Which isn't that hard to do, seeing that all the profiles do is point out that's she's female, but that she's tough anyway...
*shrugs* Opinions differ.

PaperBerry In reply to PaperBerry [2009-09-22 05:50:00 +0000 UTC]
Erhm, so what I meant to say:
Also, Decepticons are a bunch of jerks. They'll make fun of anyone the moment they can. I'll never forget that scene in The Golden Lagoon when Megatron wants to speech about the victory ahead and is cut short by the Decepticons who just want to go out and fight. Megatron does shut up. Must've been a painful moment. Fear has little to do with whether Decepticons will try to make fun of another. Respect and worship are for the most part non-existent among Decepticons, and I doubt any leader holds such illusions.

Ha, ha, ha!!! Well, I DO admit, Starscream does happen to be a good looking character. And I won't lie, I USED to be a big fan of him. But, as time went on, I just started to get annoyed with him. I guess it's everyone's opinion, so I'm fine with that people like him. XD But I do prefer Megatron and Shockwave. ^^

PaperBerry In reply to NiGhT-sTaLkEr13 [2009-09-22 05:27:16 +0000 UTC]
I fail to see how preferring one means you have to dislike another...
I just have a weakness for all the ambitious schemers the Decepticons have in their army, which is qΓΊΓte a lot. It's the competition that keeps the Decepticons strong and on-guard. Starscream and Shockwave are pretty much the primary examples of that mindset, and I love them badly for it (though Hellbat is my favourite schemer).

His lightbulb face makes him amazingly hard for me to draw, lol and think thats my problem. He's somehow absolutely adorable... for someone with no face.
As much as M/SS is my favorite transformers ship, I have a soft spot for Megs and Shocky. But it's mostly me feeling bad for poor Shockwave being stuck all alone on Cybertron for 4 million years. I can just imagine him.
"Oh Megatron... why haven't you called? Is it something I said??"

NiGhT-sTaLkEr13 In reply to LostSlivers [2009-09-22 05:17:56 +0000 UTC]
Awww. XD Surprisingly, I actually find it really easy to draw Shockwave. But faces can be really hard for me, especially on odd angles, so that's probably why. Since Shockwave is just kind of a... box. >> And yess, for someone who has no face, he is such an adorable character. ^^ He's so cute, and yet can still manage to be so... damn.. SEXY!
Yes... I guess you can tell that my OTP is Megatron/Shockwave. The way I see them, it just makes perfect sense to me. XD And yeah, I think a lot of people probably sympathise the poor 'bot. And his accent is just... His voice can just make me swoon so much, heh, heh.
