Description
I'm sorry that all I ever draw anymore is robots. I can't stop. Really. I cant.I'm on a meme filling in spree. I know this is unspeakably OBNOXIOUSLY late as to when the meme came out, but I did it anyways, lol.
First time actually drawing strait into the computer without a scan first besides little 5 minute scribbles. I've got a lot of practice to do if I ever actually want to be somewhat good at digital drawing, lol. But none of this is serious anyways, and I figure its alright to practice on dumb doodles.
Fffff. I tried to make this mostly PG, but I don't think I can do a whole list without making a handful of inappropriate jokes. -_-

Lol! I just got AHM Volume 2 today and, yes, # 12 is now one of my favorite scenes ever! To me, and I could be wrong, but to me at least it shows that Starscream still has faith in Megatron. It was his disapointment and question of his leader's motivations that lead him to turn against him. But in the end, I really think he wants an excuse to believe in his hero again. Sure he wants to lead. Sure he wants to do it with honor (god knows G1 Starscream would have abandoned him) but this version seems to doubt himself. Even Megatron states so, and ENCOURAGES him to continue to try for leadership in the future. I'd say it's cruel for Megatron to give Starscream false hope, but this version of Starscream is far more mature and reasonable. Perhaps Megatron is right. Maybe he doesn't wish to lead the Decepticons for ever and is more than happy to allow Starscream to rise to power if he is able to take it.
Sorry! Didn't mean to rant about it. I'm still thrilling from reading it and your meme is the first pic I've commented on since doing so. And low and behold, you have the scene portrayed so perfectly. Great work!

Yes! IDW's Starscream is far more mature than his G1 counterpart. He posses a much greater threat to Megatron in the comics than he did in the cartoon too. And I think Megatron realizes that. Megatron goes as far as to praise Starscream, and acknowledge him as "the ideal Decepticon" but I think he fears him a little bit. G1 Megatron never feared Starscream, and hardly respected him, and the few times he ever gave him any sort of praise, Starscream went weak at the knees. G1 Starscream was a sniveling, cowardly mess who would kiss Megatrons boots and beg forgiveness the moment things didn't go his way, In IDW's universe it is Megatron who smooth talks Starscream back into joining his ranks after he rebels. He values him, and realizes that he is much stronger with Starscream at his side.
What I like about these two in AHM is that they have a much more "Commander and second in command" sort of relationship, they stand on more equal footing, and theres more respect between them without altering their characters too much.

I loved that Megatron lures Starscream back into line without any violence, surprisingly. He only ever used fear and pain to keep the G1 version in line. Which is fun to watch, but kinda sad since I love Screamer so much and hate to see him get beaten down all the time. And even better, IDW Starscream actually listened to what he said and took it to heart. It was such a powerful moment with those two. They certainly respect one another and value each other's words. Starscream even seemed kinda hurt at loosing his faith in his leader. I love them both so much! It's fun to see different versions and different characterizations!

Ah, so the TF series that introduced was Beast Wars??? Haha, we're just in the same boat~ Panel 2 reminds me the way I did that, I love to mistaken myself my household rats as Rattrap too (so true LOL). Coz it's quiet rare that the previous TF memes I've read from others don't mention BW as their first one but alas, always in the "least favorite". Which I find it bad. ._.
But really, BW is such a nice show at my time. x3 And BTW, you can't stand Blackarcahnia of TFA? o.o Pfft, I don't know what to say, but like me, she's just different form her BW self (which I liked of course), so it has to be like that. Even the day when TF: Animated was introduced, I was so shocked of why she was included in the cast (like I go what teh-). And also, liked her TFA toy too much~

It sure was! I was born in 1989 so G1 was before my time. I used to watch Beast wars every day after school, lol. It's also one of the only shows from my childhood I've gone back and watched and thought "Wow... this actually was a really good show!"
I don't know why theres so much hate for Beast Wars. : / It has some great characters, a great story and the animation was very impressive for its time. I think a lot of people don't give Beast Wars a fair chance and just decide they hate it before actually sitting down and watching it.
I don't like TFA's Blackarachnia for the sole reason that she used to be Elita One. I like Blackarachnia, and I like Elita One... But I don't like them being the same person. G1's Elita is the POLAR opposite of BW's Blackarachnia. I know its a different universe so all slates are wiped clean but Elita turning into a Decepticon just doesn't sit right with me. and the Last thing poor Optimus needs is to have all these conflicting guilty feelings because his old girlfriend is evil. and I love Blackarachnia/silverbolt way too much to be able to accept Optimus as her man!
You're right, her TFA toy is awesome. I work in a coffee shop and some kid left her there one afternoon. I found her when I was cleaning up near the end of my shift and kept her in the "lost and found" box for a few days. When no one came back for her I took her home, lol. She's in pretty good shape too, except sadly her weapons were no where to be found. XD
She lives on my desk now.

Just coz they don't like it (and I mean those purists if ya know what I mean) or the either way around. 8[ But yeah, there was Beast Machines, and I was so WTF at that time but nonetheless, love their story too. But all in all, I also loved their humor too and one thing I'll never forget is Waspinator's crazy death antics and Rhinox doing the ehem- farting (in one particular episode)? xD
Ah, yeah about that Elita, I second notion that. I was even bothered of how they changed some notable characters in like that, I mean the Dinobots were animatronics from a park, Soundwave a toy and Elita as Blackarachnia herself??? That ain't right... 8[ Pfft, dunno, they just wanna merge stuff like that so it could turn out to be cool or the heck I dunno. And yesh, she should stick with Silverbolt nonetheless. :V
Ahaha, you really kept her home? That's so nice of you and I just bought her a week ago. XP

I have actually not seen Beast Machines so I can't say anything about it. ^_^; I'll get around to watching it someday. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews of it.
Waspinator was the best, lol. (I really liked how they gave him a part in TFA too.) I like how Rattrap kept a little w\Waspinator parts collection that gets sucked out of their base when Megatron makes takes that magnet over their ship, lol. There was a lot more humor in BW Than most other transformers shows. I think they took themselves seriously, but knew exactly when it was ok to be lighthearted and funny. (Megatron had a hot tub for gods sake, lol.)
I didn't totally mind the way they did the dinobots, But i was a bit disappointed that Grimlock was the only one who ever really got any screen time. (But thats ok, because I love Grimlock in every universe he's been in. No matter his origins, his personality is basically the same.) I didn't like the way animated did Soundwave either. I think the good things in Animated greatly outweigh the parts I didn't like though. Animated Megatron is one of my favorite versions of Megatron. Starscream was perfect, I actually managed to like Blitzwing better than his G1 counterpart. And I adore Lugnut, lol.
Yep! She's quite at home in my collection actually. The only Animated figures I have are Blitzwing, Lugnut, BA and Grimlock, lol so she is among "friends".

But Waspinator of TFA seem to be not a lot like Waspinator of BW, actually... I find him creepy though. 8[ Yeah, how I wish some TF series (though Animated did of course) apply humor similar to that of BW, they got the most nicest script ever and like what you've exactly said, it tries to be lighthearted at the same time. Which reminds me of ROTF, they totally ruined it. Man, whatever happened to today's franchises anyway? =_=

Megatron/Starscream is my favorite little transformers ship to sail. To be honest, they are probably one of my favorite slash pairings of all time. But every time I see a sweet, cute and lovey-dovey depiction of them I just role my eyes. The only way I can ever see Starscream getting all cozy up on Megatron is if he's got some far eviler plan brewing in that twisted head of his. But it would probably end in Megatron killing him. (Again...)
I'm rather fond of the "Starscream tries to prove he's better than Megatron by dominating him- in more ways than one-" scenario. Which, of course would completely backfire and result in Megatron having to "beat him back in his place" if you get my drift.
Although if anything ever sold me on the M/SS issue it was the "enter the night bird" episode where Starscream takes on the persona of a crazy jealous girlfriend.
I adore Rodimus. I think he's hated simply because hes "Not Optimus". Poor guy

PaperBerry In reply to LostSlivers [2009-09-22 06:16:52 +0000 UTC]
Megs/Ss was pretty much my very first ship (OP/EO would get that title if I would consider no-extra-thoughts observation of the canon a ship. Love OP/EO, but I've only gotten to truly ship them after Megs/Ss). It's one of my favourite ships still, provided it is done correctly. Those two are among the most talented and vicious Decepticons there are. I'm not saying that means they can't get 'cozy', but there better is given a good context for it.
For me it was the whole Starscream jumping Megatron that sealed the deal. Not that Enter the Nightbird wasn't a treat to the ship. Or any time Megatron preferred Starscream to handle him in gunmode. Or Megatron appearing scaringly not angry at all by the end of Countdown to Extinction. Or the fact Megatron trusted Starscream about the energy storage in Triple Takeover and went to see it alone with him. Or, you know, pretty much everything. ^^
Yep, that's pretty much it. And of course, because he's "Not Optimus", all flaws he has are heavily exaggerated by the biased people. Rodimus is a good leader and an interesting character and I'm tired of having to tell that to people. Same for any other bashed character - the hate is so often based on nothing.

Looks like we share favorite pairings.
I really like OP/EO myself, but I just wish that Elita had gotten to play a somewhat bigger role in the cartoon. Except I often find myself reluctant to pair Optimus up with anyone else, just because I think him and Elita have such a meaningful relationship, even though she only appeared a few times.
Indeed. And people often forget that Optimus had been leading the Autobots since long before the cartoon began. Optimus was a great leader, but he had been leader for a long time and was much more comfortable in the position. Rodimus was thrown into the position and had to adapt to being Prime very fast. Sure, he was a bit impulsive and made a few silly mistakes, but he's still rather young and I highly doubt Optimus was a flawless leader when he was younger and inexperienced.

PaperBerry In reply to LostSlivers [2009-09-22 06:43:34 +0000 UTC]
Actually, my full ship is OP/EO/UM, from a Dion=UM perspective. As you say it, while I love the idea of OP/UM due to their short interaction in the movie, I can't put myself to splitting up EO & OP. They're too good a pair. Since Ariel and Dion had pretty good interaction in War Dawn, I decided, what the heck, threesomes solve anything! Not that I don't have some alternative pairings for each of them, but there's a reason I like them less.
I'm reasonably fond of the Japanese cartoons, so I already view Supreme Commander succession very differently. Optimus has been leader for ridiculously long already, it was about time someone else had to take over. Rodimus did well at that most of the time. And it's not like Optimus was a flawless leader even when he was experienced. Ironhide didn't 'invite' the others to help beat up Optimus for nothing in The Ultimate Doom.
But half-what on the subject, why I exactly do you dislike TFA BA?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
LostSlivers In reply to PaperBerry [2009-09-22 07:03:38 +0000 UTC]
Threesomes do indeed solve most problems, lol.
My views on TFA's Blackarachnia are really just me being stubborn. Her personality is almost identical to how she is in Beast Wars. She's sassy and a seductress and she's not afraid to manipulate people to get what she wants. And I Loved her in Beast Wars. But I don't like her and Elita being the same character. I love BA and I love EO. But I like them as separate people.
I mean, I know its a completely different universe, all bets are off and all slates are wiped clean, but something about Elita becoming a Decepticon really rubs me the wrong way. I understand that both Optimus and Elita are very different in the Animated universe than they are in the G1 universe, but I think the last thing poor Optimus needs is to have conflicting guilty emotions about his love interest becoming evil. "Good guy loves Bad girl (who used to be good girl) and tries to bring her around but she just takes advantage of him" was done in Beast wars already with BA and Silverbolt. And I think BW did it better.
Although thats really just me being nit picky.

PaperBerry In reply to LostSlivers [2009-09-22 07:27:37 +0000 UTC]
I remember an interview in which one of the TFA writers said that they kept characters the same and altered them depending on how much they liked the characters' previous incarnations. I was surprised how many people responded positively at that notion. There's no accounting for taste, but it made me wonder what the bleep was wrong with all characters that had been drastically re-interpreted.
I thought Elita had been Sentinel's lady in TFA. Not that there was no tension between Optimus and her, but they never were an item.
BW wins for at least finishing the whole thing, unlike TFA which even opened another plot point in the last episode we ever saw BA. I'll admit I'm not overly fond of BW BA/SB, because she technically falls for him because he declares her inferior. She's been a warrior for quite a while and then he shows up and refuses to kill her (i.e., acknowledge her as an opponent) for being female. I'd have killed him, not fallen in love with him. He also doesn't really seem to love her for who she is, but rather what he wishes her to be, and that doesn't sit well with me either. But they have good interaction when certain subjects are not brought up, and that's when I like the pairing.

LostSlivers In reply to PaperBerry [2009-09-22 08:29:40 +0000 UTC]
True, Silverbolt was rather obnoxious with how chivalrous he was. (He was obnoxious about a lot of other things too, lol.) But I think he was a little deeper than he looked on the surface.
I think Silverbolt saw a bit of himself in BA, which is why he became so infatuated by her. He was originally a predicon who went to the maximals and him knowing that BA was originally a maximal protoform made him want to think that she was a "good girl" deep down inside somewhere. And if HE could "see the light", turning from predicon to maximal, than SHE should be able to as well.
I think Silverbolt was simply too "heroic" for his own good. And a bit thick headed. And of course old Fashioned. But his heart was in the right place. He just needed to lay off the romance novels and maybe he would be bearable.
On the other side I don't think BA was such a "baddie" after all. Sure, she was selfish and power hungry at first, but when Megatron reaches her and Silverbolt at the Ark she makes the choice to save him. She plays off the whole "bad girl" persona but if she really was such an evil person Silverbolt wouldn't have gotten through to her at all and she wouldn't have cared, or ever started to fall in love with him. I think what Silverbolt loved about her was actually who she was, but that she just chose not to see it herself, which was a maximal.
I don't really think he thought or her as inferior. He definably recognized her strength and fighting ability. True, he didn't want to fight her because fighting females went against his overly chivalrous "code of honor", but he never thought she was weaker because of it. He knew damn well how dangerous she was. All the times he's positive she wont hurt him is because he thinks its the Maximal side of her, not the female side.
Because she WAS a "good girl" after all. Silverbolt just helped her to see it, he didn't change her or manipulate her.
I always just saw the Optimus/Sentinal/Elita thing in TFA as a bit of a love triangle. More like three friends who kind of sort of might or might not have feelings for each other but none of them are actually doing anything about it. (I kind of saw Springer, Arcee and Hot rod in the same way too I guess...) Plus the whole rivalry between Optimus and Sentinal might have had something to do with it. I don't remember it ever saying "Elita was Optimus's girl" but I don't remember her being Sentinals either. I always assumed they both liked her, but nothing really ever came of it because she turned into BA. But my brain automatically drifts to Optimus/elita simply because thats what I'm used to in G1.

Silverbolt never was a Predacon. His chivalrous behaviour was being lied around to keep him on Predacon side. Had he known the full truth from the start he'd never have taken orders from Megatron. Compared to Blackarachnia, he'd have to be very naive to believe all that time she was a Predacon she was being tricked as well.
Never said Silverbolt's heart wasn't in the right place, but that isn't a guarantee someone won't do something... stupid.
It's the "after all" part that bugs me about Blackarachnia the most. I liked the character reasonably until she fell in love with Silverbolt. Would that not have happened in canon and a similar setup would've been used for a Ba/Sb fanfic, I would've called OOC on Ba. That was nothing like her, and I can't shake off the feeling it is a forced renewed angle on the character just to hook her up~get her on Maximal side.
And why do you think the common theme goes that you don't hit/fight women? Because they are weaker creatures. Female warrior? That's an inferior one then. It's not about what Silverbolt explicitly thought, but the theory that goes behind his chivalrous behaviour. Give me one other reason that he would refuse to kill Ba because she's a woman than the thought that no honourable man would kill a creature obviously below their standing?
Someone who'd keep insisting me I am something I A.) don't want to be (but that'd fit them), and B.) have proven myself not to be, would be the kind of person I'd stay away from by a long distance. Those are not healthy types to stay acquainted with.
I believe the Allspark Almanac stated Sentinel and Elita used to date, but I'm not sure. Not that that means there was no Elita/Optimus romance backthen, but that has no confirmation. I do believe them to be like a set of friends as you describe them.
Meah, I have learnt well by now that a similar name and look means nothing cross-continuity. Outside of G1, I don't insist on Optimus/Elita. With few exceptions, 'recurring' characters don't work like that.

LostSlivers In reply to PaperBerry [2009-09-23 13:56:49 +0000 UTC]
Technically though, Silverbolt WAS a Predicon. He was "Born" a Predicon. He chose to leave very early on, but the still was a predicon protoform.
I won't argue that Silverbolt is not slightly sexist. He is. Although I will argue that he learns to respect Blackarachnia very quickly. He refuses to fight her at their first encounter simply because he doesn't want to have to strike a female. However, he quickly learns that she has no such qualms with hurting him no matter how vulnerable he may be.
However I think thats one of the reasons I'm so fond of the couple. Silverbolt comes off as almost accepting of a female warrior at first, but if anyone can change his mind it's Blackarachnia. And she most definably isn't afraid to. He quickly grows to respect her and soon falls in love with her. He didn't just fall in love with the fact that she was a "maximal protoform" that he wanted to change, he fell in love with her because she was a strong willed character, and even though their motives clashed horribly, he respected her and her abilities. (And the fact that Blackarachnia is a seductress who isn't afraid to use the fact that she IS a woman to get what she wants, I'd say if anyone was manipulated in their relationship it was Silverbolt, Not Blackarachnia.)
I'm a woman, and a life long Feminist, so perhaps it comes off as strange that Silverbolt is one of my favorite characters in Beast Wars, but I think his good qualities far outweigh his slightly sexist "I'm so noble its painful" way of thinking.
I'll admit I was slightly put off by him at first, but its the episode with Transmutate that he really wins my respect. When even Optimus suggests that they put Transmutate into stasis lock, it is Silverbolt who is most outraged, saying "Who are we to judge something just because it is different from us? Who are we to destroy something just because we don't understand it?" He leaves the predicons because he is "good", but I like that he is able to stand up to even Optimus because what he believes is "good" as well.
Blackarachnia and Silverbolt make such a good couple because of what they have to learn from eachother. Silverbolt learns to see Blackarachnia as a valuable warrior, despite her gender. (He never asks her to give up being a warrior. He asks her to give up being a Predicon. and Besides the fact that he wants her to be a maximal because he wants to be "with" her, he wants her to be a maximal because he can clearly see that she would be a powerful ally against Megatron.) And Blackarachnia learns to care about someone other than herself every once in a while. I don't think that "ruins" her as much as it shows her emotional growth and maturity as a character.
You are most likely right about the Sentinal and Elita thing. I haven't read the Allspark Almanac (or the Animated comics for that matter) and everything I'm basing my ideas off is simply from watching the show. From the cartoon you really only get the feeling that "Optimus, Elita and Sentinal hung out. And theres a lot of romantic tension between Optimus and Blackarachnia later on."
And while thats very true, a lot of characters don't even resemble their namesakes in other universes, its just me being picky. I like BA and Elita too much on their own to ever really like them as the same character.
(Gosh...I feel like I've just been bashing on Animated now, which totally isn't my intention. Animated is one of my favorite things to ever come out of Transformers, I just disagreed with a few of the tweeks they made to certain characters.)
