Rumbelle Adventures - The Apprentice (Part 3)
After hours of walking to a hear by village, still close enough to Belle’s original home, Belle was still unrecognizable. Within a few hours she had become known as ‘The Dark One’s Apprentice’. The very thought of using magic had never occurred to Belle, magic had never been in her reach before. But as they removed their cloaks and sat at a table in the back of a pub, she started to wonder. Would Rumplestiltskin teach her magic? She had agreed to be his companion on the journey he was taking, he said nothing of the teachings of his parlor tricks. It was all smoke and mirrors to Belle, until a man from her Father’s army entered the pub and ordered some ale. His gaze flickered over Belle, showing no sign of recognition. Had the Imp done it? Had she really been wiped from history? The little pang in her heart at the thought of a Father who would never look at her with adoration as he had when she was a child, seemed to bother her a little. But not enough to take back the deal she had made. Through the years his eyes had stopped lighting up when she entered the room, and his insistance that she marry Gaston was the last little push she needed to leave.

Belle looked over at the Imp as he cracked the shells of peanuts between his fingers, not even bothering to eat the nut inside. For someone so powerful he seemed awfully fidgety and somewhat childish. Belle tried to pay attention to her book and to mask her amusement, but a little giggle escaped the sorcerer, causing her to lose focus and stare at him.
“If you’re going to pretend to read, dearie, you might want to turn the page.” He flicked the crumbs off of his alligator skinned tunic. “You’ve only been staring at that page for the past fifteen minutes. I know seers who can read faster.”
The beauty let out an airy laugh. She thought she would be more afraid of a man who carried such a tale of darkness. However she just found herself…curious and on a mission to learn more about him. A dangerous combination for Belle, but if she were to venture into unknown lands with a man she didn’t know, it would be wise to learn about him, would it not?

“Sorry, I was just lost in thought.” she covered up, closing her book before he got his peanut crumbs in it’s pages. The tavern wench placed two large mugs of ale on the table, her eyes full of fear at the sight of the sorcerer. And for the first time in Belle’s short life, she too was looked upon with fear. She wasn’t sure how she felt about that.
Belle reached for the ale and downed it quickly. She didn’t realized how parched she was from her own journey. Rumplestiltskin watched the beauty, fascinated by her. She was such an interesting creature to him.

Belle pulled back from her glass and licked her red lips clean. If she hadn’t known better she would have thought her accomplice was blushing, his hands going back to the monotonous task of cracking the peanuts free from their shell. He was an odd one, that was for sure. But Belle saw him as a book yet to be read. Once you manage to open the cover, she’ll be able to read him, one page at a time. She could tell he was layered, and she looked forward to revealing the mystery of the Dark One.
