I love that you've discovered the soul of the tree and that it's so perfectly represented with the sap running down from the eye of the bark. Clearly you have an insight for all elements of your frame.
I can see where people would centralize on the bird and fail to see the true motive for the name.

What I liked about your photo: Picture is centered in frame, clear and well composed.
Things that you can do better are: As a bird watcher, I would like to know what kind of woodpecker it is, and perhaps a little bit of info on the bird itself.

This woodpecker passes regularly around my house and I always have a camera that is ready to grasp its coming (when I see it of course

I just love woodpeckers and only have 2 varieties around our home. The Pleated and the Downy. Both raise young in the area. Nice photograph.
