so basically all i have to do is Cut and paste 2 pictures together and i get a DD... dang that's what i was doing wrong.. i was submitting actual art... i guess that's not what DA is looking for.

That took actual time having to draw the lines, then scan them to the computer,then digital brush the paints on... a few hours at best... I could take 2 minutes to take a pic of my closet door, and then a pic of my book case, paste them together... and obviously its a DD.

The border you are talking about is the border of mural. And it is quite different from the full photograph's border. Why can't you see it?...

DD pretty much choose anything that looks really interesting to them and show everyone (in dA) their interesting art.
Also it's not two pictures..it's just one picture.

Broski, for one, a DD is merely a feature on a website. It's to make an artist known by featuring one of their artworks, and makes people look at the rest of his gallery. It's not a reward, and it's nothing really special.
For two, it wasn't two pictures, it's an AD on a billboard lol. It's street photography.
