I haven't done any tiefling-related art for a while, so here ya go. This is dedicated to the fangirls of Valen Shadowbreath (Neverwinter Nights Hordes of the Underdark).I was having a difficult time posing that tail. I'm sure Valen makes his girls doubly happy with that tail of his, but it's a pain in the arse (haha! pun intended) placing it in the scene.
I need suggestions on how to improve this one, pretty please

Overall nice work, the only thing I would change is the placement of the tail. It looks a little wierd and un-natural in that placement.

Couldn't agree more, the composition of this piece is dreadful lol. Thanks for the suggestion, though I'm more inclined to make something from scratch now rather than edit this work (made this way back in 2006). Thanks for reminding me of this piece!

I love the contrast in this piece, and the concept rings very true to what he tells us of his past. Very striking and beautiful.
I'm not sure what to suggest in terms of improvement...perhaps the tail is a little too high...? Besides that, it looks great <3

This is one striking piece of work. It's dark and dismal but still Valen fights.
I see you have used a photographic concept in keeping the focus on Valen and allowing the background to be a bit fuzzy to show that the intent is on the tiefling and his predicament.

I noticed you mentioning your photographic background. You seem to keep that in perspective with most of your work. Especially with light and shadow

The rendering programs don't really provide the anatomy for tails on humanoids, do they?
Depending on how comfortable you are with Photoshop, I might suggest a bit of postwork in the sacroiliac region to make the tail look like a natural extension of the spine, but you've done an excellent job of using the positioning of the chain to take attention away from the awkward spot.

One thing I would change is make Val's skin more pale, but that's just me...

I honestly can't see much of anything to improve, here. The musculature on Valen's body is perfect, the shadowing suggests a dismal, hopeless surrounding (I'm assuming this is when he was in Grimash't's clutches). Maybe a bit more detail on the background...? Or did you intentionally leave it ambiguous?
Regardless, this is just AMAZING!
