After seeing AmericaMarten plan on writing a Fanfiction story of the movie, "Help! I'm a Fish!" with her OC, Cassie; I got inspired to write a fanfic of this unique movie with a new OC. Meet Meribella, Professor Mac Krill's apprentice, and a mermaid.

Backstory: Meribella lived in the sea with her family: her parents and four older sisters. One day, when she was nine years old, she was in the ocean with her family and other merpeople having fun, but then a vicious barracuda appeared and began to attack the merpeople. Meribella's parents were killed, and she and her older sisters escaped, but not before her mother gave Meribella a necklace that would turn her into a human when she goes on land. Meribella and her sisters swam out to the open ocean, but Meribella was caught in a current and got separated from them.

Meribella ends up near a hideout in a cave and gets tangled in net and has a cut on her tail. She is then discovered and rescued by an eccentric marine biologist named Professor Mac Krill. The professor takes her to his home and she gets transformed into a human, and surprises Mac Krill.

Seeing that the little mermaid has no place to go, Professor Mac Krill took her in and raised her, teaching her about the human world. The two kept her mermaid heritage a secret from other humans. For the next eight years, Meribella grew into a fine young woman and as she grew, became Mac Krill's apprentice on marine biology, growing a deep fascination and love for it. Though happy with her life with Mac Krill, she misses her sisters and wishes to find them.

One day, three children, (siblings) Fly, Stella, and their cousin, Chuck run into Professor Mac Krill's lab, and he introduces them to a potion he had invented that can turn humans into fish. Stella accidentally drinks it, thinking it was lemonade and turns into a starfish. Chuck and Meribella try to stop Fly from throwing Stella into the ocean (at first, not thinking it was Stella), but it was too late. As the professor, the apprentice, and boys went to look for Stella, there was a storm over the ocean. Fly and Chuck drink the potion and turn into underwater sea creatures (Fly becomes a California Fly Fish and Chuck becomes a jelly fish). Meribella dives into the ocean and turns back into a mermaid.

The antidote sinks into the ocean and affects a pilot fish and a shark, thus they both gain human speech. The pilot fish names himself Joe and seeks to build an empire where fish can be more intelligent. Fly, Stella, and Chuck are shocked to see Meribella in her mermaid form, and she tells them of her past. Meanwhile, Meribella has to help Fly, Stella, and Chuck find the antidote in 48 hours or the children will remain fish forever. At their first meeting with Joe, Joe wants to make Meribella his slave and make her find treasure.

Will Meribella help Fly, Stella, and Chuck get the antidote to turn back into humans and defeat Joe? Will she conquer her fears and find her sisters?
