for a very long time, i have had trouble to understand what did people find so reassuring in the “it’s still you” quote, given the fact i have always despised my past selves - that was until i had realized that my interpretation of it was pessimistic rather than optimistic.
now, if we bear in mind that chara does become pessimistic as soon as frisk kills anyone , i think it gives us a better insight on the way they would perceive a post-genocide!frisk - and thus offers the “it’s still you” phrase a spiteful rather than a reassuring meaning.
