Description
Part of a series on architecture, and abstraction of structure...so what you see is not completely realistic, but with a touch of abstract-ness to it.Mixed media on masonite. 16 x 24 in.
Awards - Award of Excellence & First Place in the 2nd Congressional District in Utah. All first place winners' pieces go to Washington to be placed in the Capitol for a year.

This does have a particular quality about it; your energetic and gestural style has really found its milieu here. It has a real rawness and playfulness about it. This is definitely you coming out! How affirming to have won the award, too!

Congrats on the award, this piece caught my eye right away. I'm very into the impressionist-esque colors and your use of texture. It looks like oil pastel maybe? I'm a novice with them myself, but this looks like a great application; so rich and varied. Really awesome.

Some of it IS oil pastel. But I also used watercolor, regular pastel, oil, acrylic and ink...I like to use a lot of different things to get the effect I want. I am glad you commented on so many of my pieces, and in depth ones too! Thanks.

great job and congrats, I dig the waveyness to it, there is a term for that but I'm a regular artist and I am not up on the lingo to me it looks wavey and it is a superb job

At least you got accepted in the High School show....my teacher didn't let me send stuff in one year because she thought I was younger than I was....(Big whoops) and the second year, none of my stuff got accepted. (Sad.)
Congrats though. And, btw, even if you feel that this lost something in being scanned or whathaveyou....it still comes across. There's some nice hues and textures here. And I love how rough and raw it feels.
