Well now, here's something new. I've gotten into digital art. Around the beginning of the summer I started thinking that it would be fun to buy some art software, and a drawing tablet, mostly because I thought it would be easier for me to make corrections to my pictures if I should, say, mess up a line while inking, or choose a wrong color. There's definitely been a learning curve to it, and there are many tools and tricks that I've yet to master, but I'm getting better.

For my first picture, I decided to draw my favorite couple from My Little Pony: Bright Mac, and Pear Butter. I decided to draw this after seeing the episode, and because of a prompt from Equestria Daily's Newbie Artist Training Grounds. I wanted to draw a sweet picture of the two of them looking out over the orchard.

I think for me, the hardest thing to do was Bright Mac's hat. For some reason, no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't make it look right. In the end, I decided to just leave it as is. Hopefully as I continue drawing, I'll be able to figure out a way to do it.

This picture also allowed me to try things that I'd never done before, such as shading. I'd never had to do that before, and even now I'm not sure I've done it right, but for my first time I think it turned out alright. It certainly looks better than it would have if I'd just left it flat.

This one is my first complete picture (both characters and a setting rather than a character on a white background). I won't lie, I did get it started by tracing a screenshot from the show (one from Brotherhooves Social with Big Mac Sitting under a tree), but I made enough changes to it that I feel comfortable enough posting it here. The concept is my own, but I wasn't confident enough in my own abilities to execute it properly, so I ended up tracing the background/Big Mac, and the Mare in the Moon. Then I changed it to a night scene, added Pear Butter, and a hat on top of Bright Mac's head. Keep in mind, I just did this because I'm very new to all of this, and I don't plan on making a habit of it in the future.

*Update* I went in a to add a couple of more effects, like a shadow under the trees in the distance, and I made the part of the tree top facing the moon a brighter
