Pretty colors, it reminds me of a girl I would like. Things look a bit flat though, or maybe just embossed. Try looking more closely at the shadows in the stock photo. Also, her fingers are bit blurry; it looks like you used the Smudge tool often. (Is it a Photoshop Painting?) The smudge tool can create some good results, but sometimes it makes things too soft. It works pretty well here (assuming you did use it, i dunno).

thanks for the suggestion. the original image size is much bigger and it looks fine, so i guess resizing/optimizing to reduce file size caused it.
