This is probably my saddest pic ever... the little dragoon-like creature is actually a Pokèmon, is Cuboone, one of my favourite.Firt of all you have to know a thing, the anime of Pokèmon shucks! But the game is really a good game! And this pic is based on the game! Let's start: on Pokèmon red/blue/fire red/green leaf, you come in a city, Lavander Town, who's called also the Pokèmon cimitery. The Team Rocket assaulted the city for capture the Pokèmons who lived here, and they've killed a female Marowak (Cubone's evolved form) leaving alone his son, Cubone! Sad, isn't?
This pic is based on this event (When you come to the city is already too late, Marowak is already buried) here you can see the little Cubone (Mine is named Cube) removing the Mom's skull for a silent minute. I don't know if Cubone is really like here without the skull, but his cute!
The character Cube sometimes appear in my art or fanfic, is too adorable!

The thing I never understood is that a Marowak has a different skull than a Cubone, which leads me to believe that Cubone and Marowak should be two completely different Pokemon.

Probably the bone structure changes with evolution, some cubs have a spotted fur while adults have it smooth brown and baby deers don't have the horns of an adult, all because they'll change when they'll grow up. I know it's useless to make scientific reasoning with a fantasy creature, but one can try

Yeah, I was thinking about that last night. A Marowak must be nothing more than a larger Cubone, meaning the skull starts to become part of its head. And when it dies, the skull reverts back to its original shape. That must be it. ^^

I played Leaf Green about 4 years ago,and I still remember that event.Not only was the music creepy,but when I first saw that Ghost,I crapped myself.But when I found out what happened,I was quite upset.

Thanks for the comment! I was depressed a lot by that event, mostly because Cubone is one of my favourite pokèmons, Team Rocket is more evil in the games than in the anime.

At least in the anime they're funny. I manage to defeat all the team rocket with a cubone, I even defeated Giovanni in the gym battle with it!

You son of a.....i don't believe it.....That picture.....is the EXACT idea i had in my head of what i wanted to draw yesterday. I started but, it's crap. The grave is all crappy, i had a cross of two bones instead of a stone. But it was gonna have Cubone standing, staring at it, holding the helmet. I'm so amazed it's the exact same idea.....kinda creepy really lol

On the GBA remake the music is creepy than ever! The little one is really strong! I've beated the boss of the Team Rocket with him! He avenged himself in a sorta of way!

What I can remember from the anime was that Lavender Town was a deserted Ghost Town and the heroes had to venture into the tower to find a Ghost Pokemon. There was no Cubone, Marowak or any of the matter...
