Princess Zelda from Legend of Zelda: Twilight PrincessZelda from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Original line-art found here:
Discontinued old version found here:
Update:
2014 - 0.5 minor update: Added color and tweaked some more.
2014 - 0.4 minor update: Minor tweaking added. Started working on tiara and jewels.
2014 - 0.3 Update: Nearly done with hair (only needing another layer with detail, single hair flying around etc). Drew and shaded missing hair wrapping. Drew some folds on the dress (incomplete) and did additional shade tweaking.
2014 - 0.2 Update: This is not an abandoned piece, I recently browsed through my all my WIP work and decided this piece deserved some attention (really want to complete it). I have done some minor tweaks to the already existing shading adding more realistic shadows and light. More notable I have redone the hair completely and is almost done with the first layers of all the hair - please be aware that hair will obviously get a more realistic look eventually.
2009 - 0.1 minor update: Did some more shading and added some text explaining new viewers that the new piece is to the left and the old one to the right.
Description:
This is a complete rework of an old (but fairly popular) piece I have done before. There are quite some drastic changes - most being much better and realistic proportions, that may be to some peoples preference and others dismay. I think it is a major improvement over the older piece.
Feel free to give me your opinion. I'm not so much interested in critique at this state, through.

FAQ:
Q: What tools did you use to draw this?
A: I cleaned the lines in with the brush tool in Photoshop using my Wacom Intuos4 tablet. I used the pen tool to shape, copy and transform the scales. Shading have been one with my newer Intous5 tablet.
Q: How long did it take you to draw this?
A: Not sure, it took me some time to ink this and I haven't counted hours spend shading.
Q: Can I color this?
A: I do not grant permissions to color my works any longer, the only exception being I already colored it myself.
Q: Can I use this?
A: No. Do not use, upload or reupload to dA without my explicit written permission. If found elsewhere without my permission I'll personally report it to the site administration as stolen.

I know how to stream and Skype. I don't have a stream available right now as I'm not drawing per se.
I am currently doing new textures for Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Yeah, definitely. I'm just not really drawing currently and is focused on textures/graphics instead.
I'll set up a live stream once I get back to coloring again, you're welcome to watch/stalk. Unless you have a different preference.

I really think that this could be one of the greatest pieces of fan art I've seen, although on that note, I believe that you might be good to add some detail to the arm sleeves. Also, depending on whether you are finished or not, I think that you should finish shading the drawing, because it has very high potential as a great work of art, wheher you believe that or not. Another thing too, I hope that you can get this colored in likeness to the actual Zelda for another version of it, but if not, then that's cool too. I just really hope you can finish shading t all over, like you did for mos of the torso, and most of the head. Cold you also bring the arm sleeves up to the bottom of the shoulder metals. Finally, detail on each piece of unshaded tuff, and you have got it made! I know this seems like a lot of harsh critisism, but this is truly my favorite piece of Zelda art that I have ever seen.

Wow... wall of text.
There's no point in adding "detail" until I start color/shade that area.
What's that with the arm sleeves up to the shoulder metals? I didn't get that part, especially as her gloves are currently true to her design...
And again, I'm not gonna add detail to anything that's not shaded yet..
Anyway, I don't really consider your comment criticism, but more like personal requests.
But thanks for liking.

Argh, all the capital letters hurts my eyes! Anyway, no I'm not really proud of this piece of junk. That would be a lie if I said I was.

Had to make an account here just to keep track of this drawing, would love to see it finished.
Was gonna say her boobs are too big for such a character
that comes out as a "respectable princess"
but after reading other comments I saw you werent going for that realism look and thats the way you draw, still very nice,
dress seems a little flat but must be from lack of detail on it still.

Did you ever finish shading or colouring this master piece?

Fantastic work. I absolutely love the eyes and face. The just seem to give her that gentle touch of life...
Really looking forward to seeing this piece completed, and it would be absolutely amazing if it could be colored someday.
As for as criticism goes...there's not much I can offer. The pose is very well done and thought out, the detail is coming along nicely, though there could be a little more. Only other real thing I can think of is the nipples poking at the clothing. It makes the dress look like it's made out of latex if you don't have any form of detail/cloth stretching lines near them.
Other than that, again, amazing work and it looks almost lifelike. Would look even better if it was finished, but I understand that these things take time.

perhaps you should turn her right hand slightly? to make it seem more complete.
ok now that thats out of the way.... BOOOBIES!! ahem sorry this is drawn very well and the only thing I can honestly comment on is her right hand seeming just a little too small.
Keep up the good work!

The hand is the correct size. I might redraw this piece anyway though as I'm not completely happy with it. The hand is a detail I've already considered though..

I believe that the previous version suited the character more than that of the newer one because she's not really a happy Character as she has so much on her shoulders, her land has just been taken over by evil and she can't do nothing about it. Otherwise, they both are stunning. Amazing works that should be completed. When they are, I have no doubt that they should be the Most Popular.

lthot In reply to Foxy-Tiffy [2010-08-09 08:02:46 +0000 UTC]
Ah well, she's not really supposed to look happy. I've heard a few people complain about her mouth and I think it's because this scaled down version doesn't show the details properly. She's not really smiling or looking happy I guess.
I know her background
Why should they be "most popular"?
