Description Princess Zelda from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

This is a redrawn version of Princess Zelda TP v.07 from 2007. This is the lineart and is not the actual final colored result - keep that in mind when you comment...

Lineart description:
There was too many flaws and errors that bothered me on the old version, so I decided that I'd eventually redraw it and start from scratch. Now, this fine day I did so.. or - actually I already did - but the result wasn't satisfying and was based too much on the old version. So here's a totally new and better proportioned version with a lot of adjustments and differences everywhere.

I like this version much better and I hope you guys will like at least as much and appreciate it as much as you did with the old version. This is the final lineart - it's nothing special, not perfect, but it serves it purpose as a guideline when I'm coloring.

Be sure to stay updated for the colored version - until, enjoy the lineart.

NOTE:
Someone commented that she's looking very "masculine".
In reply to that; No, perhaps compared to official art and anime/manga style fan art. I for the most part went for a much more realistic image, at least for the body, I still made her face resemble much the official art.

Actually, in fact I did a render of the pose in Poser to make sure everything was the way I wanted to be. I used the render as reference for this new version. The model I used for the pose was already very slim AND feminine. I gave the model some more curve and actually slimmed her neck which one consider thick. On the sketch I made her neck longer also to resemble how she's normally portrayed.
Overall, I won't really change anything as I consider it fine as it is. But things can change during the coloring progress, it usually do.

I'm happy with this result through. The proportion of her face might change through.

What-to-do-list:
I need to clean the lines / ink it. DONE!
Then I start to color - the coloring will be similar to the old, if not better.
Keep working until it's finished.

Feel free to favorite it if you like it, but I suggest waiting until it's finished or at least more detailed than now.

READ BEFORE COMMENTING!:
Comments like: "Nice", "Sweet", "Nice boobs" etc doesn't really help me, and I get comments like these several times a day - I do like when you comment, but please post something more useful.
I'm not interested in comments where you flame/bash my drawing style - I DRAW this way, if it doesn't suit your taste simply don't comment - critique is alright to a certain degree - that is, keep it constructive.
Comments like: "Her boobs looks ridiculous", "Her face needs detail" or "Her hands/feet look wrong" does NOT help me and is NOT considered constructive critique, if you really want to help me please pinpoint what's bothering you, and suggest me how to improve the drawing.

I usually paint my stuff.. I just have my own technique where I shade it before coloring.

the hand holding the flower's index finger is looking very odd to me. other than that, very great detail on the shouldermajigs.

also, im not really seeing the point to having the nipples hard when you're asking for people to not say nice boobs or something to that effect.

don't know why it looks odd to you? it's looking perfectly fine to me.

I discourage people to use short pointless comments for the simple purpose to just to comment on the rack. If the nipples are hard or not is irrelevant - boobs can still be nice.

Damn, this is looking really good. I am curious, are her legs bared at the sides?

lthot In reply to LeadTheWay [2009-03-14 14:37:22 +0000 UTC]

Not by the original throught. Why - and how?
I'll probably make atleast one alternate version - so it could be an idea.

Oh I was just wondering because, it being a lineart version and all, I couldn't tell what portions of her are covered and which aren't. I was just wondering, basically, if she just had her front-and-back skirt without her dress, since it SEEMS like her legs are uncovered.

Can't wait to see this finished.

Oh - I thought I've clearly outlined her dress covering the legs (even through they currently are visible through the dress).
Can't wait to finish this either.

I disagree about the manliness. I think she has a feminine body. If anything she looks kinda manly in twilight princess. Body wise. And that has nothing to do with your art lol. I love how you do your lineart. What do you use? Illustrator?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lthot In reply to Kittyvredesbyrd [2009-03-13 21:15:41 +0000 UTC]

I don't see it either.
I use Photoshop. I rarely use Illustrator - only for Logo creation and stuff that needs high resolution and vector.

Your lines are so perfect though! Yeah I like doing lineart in illustrator sometimes but the only way I can get it perfect is with the pen tool wich takes a million years. Damn. I need to keep drawing. >_< It's really really good. Like Honestly I thought you used illustrator for this one.

lthot In reply to Kittyvredesbyrd [2009-03-13 21:42:40 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't say perfect. There's some things I would do different, like doing some bolder lines somewhere and smothing out some lines elsewhere. But the only reason for that is to make the lineart look better - but I got lazy besides I'm going to color it and would prefer people to look at the colored one instead.

Comparing the two updates so far. This one's lines all seem to be less bolded. It also looks like you shifted around some of the facial features a bit but maybe that's just the visual effect of the lines being less pronounced.

Looking forward to more. Keep it up!

lthot In reply to Nweb-DA [2009-03-12 02:47:06 +0000 UTC]

The difference is the first one was the sketch - so I wouldn't really say it's an update as it's a seperate piece where I've just cleaned the lines and inked them.

I've moved a bit on her facial features for the better, after my opinion that is.

Improved on what, or rather from since what? Compared to the old piece?

Yeah, compared to the old piece this one is a lot better. The old one was beautiful, but Zelda looks more stunning in this one.

Lunaura In reply to ??? [2009-03-11 16:38:42 +0000 UTC]

I think the only reason people would suggest shes a bit more masculine is because her hips arent as wide as many curvy women would be. But I think that would be the only reason.

I have to say that your mastery of hands is wonderful. Those are always the worst part for me to draw.

lthot In reply to Lunaura [2009-03-12 02:54:50 +0000 UTC]

Considering the fact that I've actually did the pose on an already very curvy 3d model in Poser, and even draw her hip section bigger on this piece it's kinda doubtfull that that's the issue. I really think it's because of her shoulder pads / pauldrons is making her look very broad shouldered. Actually I'm certain that's the thing. I bet when it's colored it's more easy to notice her feminine curvy side.

Thanks, I've never been good on hands - but I made sure to improove them since the last version.
