This is an obvious trace fromΒ madkaiser's work. Look up 'corn syrup' on gelbooru and you'll find the exact same pose. In fact you literally did not change anything other than the head.

Are you stupid? LOL
You are aware right that we sorted out an issue with this guy already stealing my line art and manipulating it...
Have you even considered browsing through MadKaiser's gallery on deviantART to see if his version is to be found anywhere around here? Is it? NO? Then perhaps that is because he removed it when I contacted him about the issue.

I find her eyes and body perfect and it portrays her so well. Well done. Her hair looks like you could touch it thanks to those small strands coming off its nothing like most you see that look blocked up or in chunks. I would love to use this for my Metroid story with you permission of course. ^^

Sure, just give credit where it's required.

Well, she's a rather famous Nintendo character from the Metroid games. She could be compared to Lara Croft in the matter of fame.
Thanks.

I love the drawing. I like how you added the seductive emotion on her face. It definitely gives a welcoming feeling to her character.

Just in case you don't know, there's a colored version of this kicking around the Internet.

A ton of fans have asked permission to color this and post it on their dA page. In most cases I have given permission and in that case the artist coloring it have given me proper credit. If someone haven't given me proper credit, they'd most likely stolen my art and colored without my permission. I know in one case that a "fan" colored it, but also manipulated the original line for his own particular taste and posted it on the internet without permission.

Might I be that person? If yes, allow me to elaborate on a few points:
- No changes were made to your line art.
- The piece was meant for coloring practices only.
- I am unsure whether or not I have asked for coloring permission. Nor would it matter in the end as proper credit has been given. And if at all, you should be feeling honored that there's a handful of people willing to color it. Had you not wanted that then you would definitely have put a watermark on both. I'm also unsure whether this mark was on it 2 years ago.
- I also used the sketch and not these, and that was indeed for my own particular taste. Again, no changes were made.
I am deeply sorry if I didn't ask for permission. But in my defense there was no way of telling you wanted people to. That and not placing a watermark on it is basically giving everyone free access. For all you know there may be hundreds of ''fans'' out there coloring your lines, and you would never see the results.
In the case where you believe that if someone doesn't ask permission it's called theft then I highly suggest to do something about your deviations that prevents it from happening altogether. I myself find lots of colored copies from my sketches online too, some ask for permission, some don't. I let them do what they want. However, art theft is considered taking something and using for own profit. When someone picks someone else's lines and colors it, then it's by no means theft. Just look at the dudes from Udon that put up line art regularly, they are actually happy to see different renditions of their works.
Again, I am deeply sorry if I didn't ask permission. I can't remember for the life of me, it has been 2 years. Either way I hope this lightens things up for you.

You're not that person. It was someone else, though others have colored it as well without any manipulation but removed my watermark, signature or whatever and didn't post any credit. The worst case scenario though someone altered the line art and changed the head and face drastically.
I am well aware of your coloring and you did ask me permission.
It does matter to me if proper credit is given to me. It is my line art and when I occasionally stumble across versions that people claim as their own with a huge amount of views and favorites, it DOES bother me. I do not feel honored I feel betrayed. I wouldn't accept your defense if you hadn't asked me permission. I've always written in my deviation description that I want people to ASK me before they do anything with my artwork. (though I've removed it from this piece as I don't want people asking me and coloring my work anymore).
Not asking permission is indeed art theft. We all have different opinions on the matter, just because you have no problems whatsoever with other people coloring your stuff without permission doesn't mean others should feel the same way. Previously I didn't get so bothered about it, but I see these colorings all the time. The guy that stole this piece and altered actually did get profit for it and he openly admitted it to me that the customer requested that he colored my lines but changed it for his customers liking.
I don't know why you bothered write this to me, obviously this wasn't aimed at you, even if you've forgot you asked me permission. I've just come to the point where I regret ever giving ANYBODY permission to color my work. The problem is, even if people give me proper credit most idiots in here can't read the deviation description if their life depended on it - and wouldn't learn that the colorist isn't the original artist of the lines. And when people comment on the lines and the colorist respond and claim it as his own, then it starts bother me..

Before I replied, I did some scouting of my own. On both google/here and as well as conceptart.org. My results were meager, as I only found one version colored by someone, posted on his little web thingy. And to be fair? It looked inferior to the lines. Yes I did find my piece in some of the results, what leads me to think I could may well be the person you spoke of. Hence the reaction, and hence why I think it's not that obvious at all that it was someone else.
I'm sorry to hear that someone actually made profit of one of your pieces without your consent though. But I still cannot stress the fact that the internet is not a lovely place of people that all do as their told, aspecially when they see opportunities. And in that right your anger is justified, but I still urge you to do everything about it in your might.
There are debates both long and short whether it's theft and yes, most of them did come down to opinion. However there are artists that, such as yourself, get extremely upset when they see something like this. And in truth, what for? If you're someone who already established yourself and people know who you are and where to find you, not to mention you're making profit of your art, then you don't even need to worry about anything. Because of how things weigh out. And even then, even if you get angry, then that would be the time to announce art theft is going around publically. If you have publicity, you will generally create your personal cyber bully army that takes care of it for you.
I found an interesting read earlier that I want to share with you on this topic. I will share it with you when I can find it again. It's all about how to deal with it, what to do, and how to stand above it. That being put aside, I still don't find it obvious that it wasn't me. Were it so, then I would have found other works of art that are at least on the same level of popularity if not higher. and being a ''fan of the character'' I would've definitely known.
P.s. How do you view art itself? Are you busy working in this field? If not, then I am at a loss when you talk about your line of art. This is not out of disrespect ofcourse, I do like some of your pieces. But hypothetically say you don't sell art, then I would find the issue a tad misplaced.
Anyway, that being said I'm happy it wasn't me, which was the sole reason I responded, well obviously. I wish you a good day, and hopefully in the future things go better for you.
Some hints to prevent theft:
- Watermark by DA
- Don't make download available
- Upload a small size version of the drawing, just enough for the viewers
- Ofcourse there are people that can still enlarge the picture and draw over it, but if your style is distinct enough, they will never be able to reproduce the quality you provided.

Hi, thanks.
Okay - I'm glad that you decided to color my works, but I'd preferred that you've asked me permission first, even if it was for a competition.
I'm not really sure which one I'd vote for, but ind the end I think I'd be yours.
