In the midst of his tears, Jake manages to smile at the response to his questions. Feeling safe and warm with Jack and like his problems have been melted away. Finally calming himself down enough to say "I'm so glad that isn't the case. I don't want to lose you. And I really hope you do...I like seeing you happy. My health matters yes, but not as much as you."
