"It seems strange that my life should end in such a terrible place, but for three years I had roses and apologized to no one. I shall die here. Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch, but one. An inch. It is small and it is fragile and it is the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must NEVER let them take it from us. This is so touching. I have never read the graphic novel but that part of the movie almost made me cry...
The roses turned out wonderfully and I love the vibrant shade of red. I also love how her eyes are so striking against the greyish tint of her skin. It's a very beautifully laid-out piece!

Initially, I was most worried about the roses, but I think they turned out to be the best part of the piece. And I'm glad you like her eyes too; the actress has the most beautiful green eyes so I couldn't possibly leave them b & w.

This is absolutely stunning. I love the theater-style framing; alludes to the character's profession and to the "vicious cabaret" of the graphic novel. Beautiful, powerful piece. Good work, well done, Lu.

I am too.I've had sketchbooks since I was about 10,and the only reason I don't throw the embarassing sods out is because if I look at them it makes me ridiculously happy that my anatomy now doesn't suck as much as it used to.

I am so, so, so glad you like it. I had the general idea in my head for a couple of days, so I just sat down and drew it this afternoon. It's one of the most poignant points in the film and I wanted to make the piece striking too. It was an absolute pleasure to do for you.
