everything is better with copious, copious amounts of mullets
(also trying to turn Sirene from Terrifying Wrinkly Helldemon into Conventionally Attractive Monstergirl has put everyone at netflix on my hit list and they will all be dead by years end mark my words)

LOL I think you got it wrong, those are not mullets its a hairstyle from the 60's and 70's XD probably because the original manga was made around that time.
I have not seen Sirene's design from Crybaby so i cant say much about it.

the mullet is from the 1970s.
the name of the hairstyle itself was only popularized in the 90s, but the mullet is very much 70s.
also, if it's business in the front and party in the back then it's a mullet. their hairstyles are very much party in the back.

Yes, you are right about that, but in the Devilman OVA and in the original manga their hairstyles its messy in the front and in the back, so they are not using mullets.

Oh so you are trying to be a smartass arent you? its still clearly very different, while David bowie does looks kinda messy he still clearly comb his hair from the front to the back to get that look, leaving most of his forhead visible, While with Akira his forehead its mostly covered by messy hair and the back part of the hair its pointing to the back and the front part of the hair its pointing foward

1. read the article i linked. it has extra images. that wasn't my only example. you're very clearly ignoring my argument and tbh? it's sad.
2. mullet spotted
it's a mullet. i don't know why it matters so much to you, but it's a mullet.

Jeez chill out dude XD and i did see the link you send and to me it still looks clearly very different, but if you want it to be a mullet so bad then i am not going to argue with you about a simple hairstyle
Dont take this so seriously.

i'm not taking it so seriously lmao
i don't even watch this anime dude, i'm just saying that they very clearly have mullets and i have no idea why you want them to be a different hairstyle so bad.
i'm sure if you asked someone else they'd feel the same way.
also lmao:
"i am not going to argue with you about a simple hairstyle"

Its called having an opinion wich its something that you dont seem you can handle and i was all for a friendly arguing about it, but then you started getting a bit hostile when you said "you're very clearly ignoring my argument and tbh? it's sad." wich i didnt, i dont know from where you got that i was ignoring your argument, also you said than thats sad, why? its sad that i have a different opinion than yours? and i never said that i cared if it was a mullet or not, i was just giving my reasons why i disagree with that.
And yes i did say: "Oh so you are trying to be a smartass arent you? " but the wink emoticon should reveal to you that i meant that in a playfull way, if that seemed condescending to you then i am sorry
The only way to know 100% if its a mullet or not its asking Go Nagai himself, but to me it seems that he draw the characters without using any especific hairstyle in mind, the characters in Devilman are very young so they could be using just random messy hair while still looking slighty like something from that time, but it could also be that it doesnt look exactly like a mullet because its a manga so the rules of how it looks might be more stylized to fit that medium, because in a lot of mangas the characters hairstyles end up looking like something that it couldnt be done in real life or that wouldnt look good (for example the hair of the characters changes direction depending how the character its facing the camera).
I am sorry girl, but to me it seems that you are taking this very seriously, and after this i wont reply to you anymore.

PPPPPFFFF! Did she really ended her argument with "also ur mom gay lol"? XD the fact that she felt the need to use childish insults proves to me that she was indeed taking this too seriously, being hostile and overly sensitive, it also undermines any point she was trying to make, good thing i ended that conversation or it could have got worse.

alright, so either i have no idea how to not be hostile or you're being overly sensitive here, but it wasn't my intention to be hostile. in fact, i find this entire thing pretty funny.
second of all, opinions are kinda...ehh when there are facts directly contradicting them. as in, the facts that i have provided. and nah it's not sad that your opinion is different from the facts, it's sad that you were ignoring one of my points.
as for that. the reason i thought you ignored the article was because you didn't mention anything about the article in your reply to me- you only mentioned the picture i put in my comment. that was what made me think that you didn't even consider the article.
'It's his style!!!!!' can only go so far when what is drawn looks almost identical to something else. i'll be using a few examples here so bear with me
For an example supporting your argument that stylized things can be up to interpretation, lets look at Petscop. Petscop is a youtube ARG, but the details aren't really important. What is important is how the player character looks.
The style of the sprite is pretty childish yet easy to comprehend, but a few of the details are unclear- such as the mouth. The community is pretty split on what his mouth is- birdlike beak, cleft lip, or just weird red thing? Unlike the hairstyles in our discussion, this divide in interpretations is acceptable because the details are actually unclear in the original artstyle. In fact, the artist who drew the piece we're arguing on drew Petscop fanart a while back!
And if you compare it to this art by reddit user /u/species64, you can see that while Luca drew a weird inset mouth Species drew a beak.
Two different interpretations that still work within the context.
Now let's go for another stylized thing.
Animal Crossing is pretty stylized, right?
Anyway, in Animal Crossing there are some pretty unclear details. Like...whether KK Slider's eyebrows are actually eyebrows or just markings (let him emote, nintendo). One very clear detail, though, is from one of the extremely cursed rabbit villagers.
This is Tiffany. You could argue that her gloves are just markings because they match the color of the insides of her ears, but the stockings cannot under any circumstances be misconstrued as anything other than fishnet stockings.
Aside from that, the argument for the gloves is ALSO kind of bogus, mostly because they're also very clearly gloves.
I'm not even gonna touch on everything that's going on in her design, she kinda scares me.
Anyway, this was fun! If you reply to this comment I'm honestly gonna laugh because you DID say that you weren't gonna reply anymore. So uh...hey, here's my final pushback.
And hey, for anyone else reading this, he's actually doing the more mature thing by retreating from the conversation. I just don't know when to quit lmao.
