I have read that in ancient cultures starting with Ancient Greece butterflies were believed to be the souls of the dead on Earth.

yeah my mom told me about that when a student in my school died last month..she came in a form of a bird and joined us for mass (miracle!) but after that i got stalled on my way to my car by a green Monarch looking butterfly XD
