The Colt 1911 was designed by John Browning, and is the best-known of his designs to use the short recoil principle, being a single-action, semi-automatic, magazine-fed pistol chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge, having served as the standard-issue sidearm for the United States Armed Forces from 1911 to 1986, but due to its huge popularity, it has not been completely phased out and modernized derivative variants of the M1911 are still in use by some units of the U.S. Army, Navy and Marine corps, as well as many other armies around the world. In total, the U.S. procured around 2.7 million M1911 and M1911A1 pistols in military contracts during its service life.

The M1911 A1 codenamed Crystal was a series of special made models that were produced around 2016. Often displayed in gun shows and exclusive shooting events, it usually draw much attention to its most intriguing feature: the handle pieces are made of clear acrylic (know as Sweetheart Grip, a trend that appeared in WWII and consisted of carving 1911 grips from a downed aircraft's canopy to be used as a photo frame), with its frame and slide being made of Aluminum Oxynitride, an extremely resistant and transparent alloy, with the only visible parts standing out with a black oxide finish.

This model in particular was found on the remains of a partially collapsed museum, which appeared to have been host to an event dedicated to the versatility of AlON at the time it was attacked.
