Description
This fractal is a submission to Random Phrase Art Creation Contest held by #PremiumMembers and it is based on phrase "Suicidal Plutocracy" randomly generated by the Random Phrase Generator .
I see the plutocracy as a shiny golden clockwork, the oligarchy of the wealthy. From the outside it looks beautiful, golden and stable. Yet it has a suicidal potential, especially for those ordinary people who do not rule. Rich people have a lot of money and only thing that they want is more money. Plutocracy in our times is a suicidal notion, hence my picture of the Suicidal Plutocracy has a certain feeling of not being stable, slowly drifting to a fall...

First of all, I came across this piece by seeing the thumbnail somewhere on dA. The thumbnail made me "want" to click to see the full size piece. That passes the first test for any art piece.
The full size view rewards greatly in the way the center sphere and immediate surroundings affected by the Julia really pop out as being 3D. From my own experience with Apo, if you go for too much 3D/z-axis with the Julia, the bubble or other hemispherical component can fog or distort the feeling. Too little 3D effect and it can look really flat or only one component looks like an object sitting on a Persian rug.
The gradient and render settings on the work are really excellent. I have looked at many of this type of fractal but this one keeps me studying it and that is a testament to the fact that it is special. Really looks like you are peering down in the back of an open watch or clock.
Please don't be disappointed by my mark on originality. I am sure you know why. For technique and impact, there are not enough stars to rate properly.
Overall this is a beautiful piece and I will now go put it in my favorites!

Thank you for your feedback and sorry for getting back to you so late. I'm glad that you find the piece good technique-wise, 3D Apo is very challenging for me. I agree with your originality rating, it's run-of-the-mill Julian with just minor tweak of the central bubble part. I'll try to get back to the piece and make something more original with it

I am glad you didn't hate my critique. Β I am always wary to participate in those. The originality part of the piece does not really matter.........what I was so drawn to was that a "run-of-the-mill" set up could render out so beautifully and catch my attention amongst all of the fractals that come raining down on dA every day
Thank you for creating it and sharing it with all of us.

This seems like a rich mans death trap it's beautiful in its intricacies. You look at this piece a of art closely, and that's not cogs in a machine, it's spikes and you can't get to the middle without great bodily harm. The colors help mute the danger of the spikes. It almost looks like the middle could be a button or an eye.The energy that comes from the middle seems to almost pulse with an energy. Look as you may to find a way to the middle without getting spiked. The shiny eye in middle make the artwork look almost safe until you take a closer look. It reminds me of a rich mans Preying Mantis

Are you the creator of the creepypasta Clockwork?

Beautiful art and symbolism! Indeed, the nature of fractals is to grow to infinity or shrink to singularity. So it is a fitting metaphor for the "infinite growth" capitalist mentality. Β

Thank you. I'm getting increasingly worried about capitalism, about its impact on environment, wealth distribution, wars etc. Not that I didn't care before but back then when I made this artwork, capitalism was just a word with definition attached - to be spewed out on exam paper and forgotten next minute. Now I'm more educated and the state of our world scares the crap out of me, yet at the same time I don't see a way out, certainly not as an individual.

I can't offer any clever or knowledgeable critique: I just think this is beautiful. I didn't know that Apophysis could generate such three-dimensional, hard-edged shapes.

Thank you Apophysis can manage a lot these days, when I started out 10 years ago it definitely wasn't possible to create pieces like these.

Yes, but once the clock of plutocracy stops, the stoppage initiates said clock into a gear in the clock of theocracy in the truest sense of the word.

I have only just found you and I have to say that the level of complexity in all of your works, not just this one, is absolutely staggering. The ascetic and inherent beauty of fractals is clearly demonstrated here. It is evident that you are extremely talented as an artist first and foremost, but you display something wondrous that mystifies and inspires me at the same time.
Thankyou.

At first, I thought this was a rug design, but upon closer inspection i found it to be more 3D, leading me to the conclution of a complex building with many secret chambers and corridors, well done sir!
