Background :
" Lucas Mercer has a childhood of abuse. Lucas's father would sexually assault Lucas's mother, even in front of him, who was 6 the first time he'd seen it. From then on, his father would beat him for either making him mad or "Being an eyesore", pretty much doing it just for his own satisfaction.
Lucas was always going to school with band-aids and scars. The other children just thought he was beating up kids from the other county, but Lucas hadn't even laid a finger on another person.
Lucas started smoking when he turned 13, illegally buying packs from one of his classmates. He started getting more reckless and more rebellious like most kids thought he was.
That's when August 3rd came up. That night his dad was beating his mother during dinner because she had spilled a cup of water. Lucas was fed up, after seeing his mother cry for help. He took a steak knife from his plate, and stabbed his father in the abdomen, and twisted the blade to make him tense up from pain. He then ran and hid in his room as his father limped to the phone and called the police.
In conclusion, the father was arrested after being treated at a hospital, and the mother was sent to a hospital as well, later on divorcing the father and moving away.
Lucas was sentenced to staying in a Juvenile Penitentiary until he turned 25, though he got out sooner, at the age of 18, thanks to Judges deciding his attack was justified for the protection of a loved one.
He sometimes visits the prison his dad is at. The first time they had met after Lucas getting out, his father cried over the phone in a separated visitation booth, expressing his regret. The years he spent in prison got him off the influence of drugs and alcohol. He partially blamed it on that, but then took total blame for all he did. Lucas would never see his father as a real father, but he accepted the man's remorse and decided to visit him from time to time for the old man's own sake of sanity.
His mother sometimes visits him. She married a woman who had her own children and works as a police officer. Lucas avoids her for the reason that she works with the law, but he accepts her as family, and is happy when his mother comes around, though he'd rather visit her so she doesn't have to return to the rundown city she once lived in.
Lucas now lives in an apartment in the outcasted section of the city. He isn't one to attack others despite his aggression. He'll only hurt someone if he sees it necessary. All of the possible acts of Assault he's had were all justified as being done out of self-defense, or the defense of another person. This was also very underlooked when he became a Bouncer when he turned 21. As for any other possible jobs he could be doing that go against the law, there is no proof, and is only said by rumor. "
