As in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History? I'll be darned...The Smithsonian is really one of my favorite museums in the world. My dad works at Georgetown Medical Center and I've had a ball over there when I've come up to visit him.
Have you shot at the Library of Congress or the Museum of American History already? The Library of Congress is the location in Washington that I'd imagine Belle would enjoy the most and the Museum of American History has many inventions as artifacts - and also a Dumbo from the original incarnation of the Anaheim ride on the third floor.

The Smithsonian Natural History museum is my fav of the Smitsonians as well! Toped only by the British Museum... I just moved out to the area and Its soo much fun!
We were originally wanting to get to the Dumbo actually! Sadly Moving through the American History was hard with all the kids there on field trips, so my photographer and I abandoned ship...and There was a HUGE line outside of the Library of Congress (why is everything always so crazy), But I'm planning on going to the local library soon because, I totally agree Belle should not be without a Library!
Theres never a lack of a location out here though!! I cannot wait until they finish restoring the original Smithsonian so I can take some Atlantis photos in front of it!!

Oh, that's right! All the best with that...by "original Smithsonian", do you mean the Smithsonian Castle?
I'd also suggest the National Archives as a Belle location or maybe also at the Lincoln or Martin Luther King Jr. Memorials looking at the statues and reading the quotes (I imagine she'd be really be like a kid in a candy store at the Smithsonian!) Pocahontas, obviously, would be great at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian. I know it can be darn busy, but if you stay patient, the only people who might stop you from getting the shots you want are security guards.

The archives always have a line as well!! But I think if I go on a wednesday afternoon maybe it won't be so bad... I'm saving Lincoln mem for Meg (since it has the grecian pillars). I haven't seen the MLK mem yet, maybe I'll go this week. I would love to do pocahontas but I feel sorta weird since I'm european, it seems disrespectful...
The security gaurds can be so mean sometimes!! Usually they don't mind...but if they do...it can be a mess!

Don't worry, I certainly don't know the whole National Mall inside out either. Meg at the Lincoln Memorial definitely does make sense. And I'm glad the guards typically don't mind - I just wish they always didn't, even though I understand they're trying to err on the side of caution in terms of safety. I also understand about Pocahontas - and I'm sure you'd like the MLK Memorial as someone who's been there.
