My drawing for Illustration Friday -27th XI '09- , the topic is 'Music'. I'm not sure what's going on here, I have a vague sort of idea that she's a Miss Havisham type character, sitting around in evening dress, with noone to listen to her playing but the cats. It's quite sad

thinking of her sitting there all alone with no one but the cats listening is indeed very sad...I've been playing the piano myself for many years now and somehow I've always considered it a melancholic instrument which is one of the many reasons why I love it so much (of course there are enough cheerful tunes for the piano, too ^^ ). this is such a beautiful and also meaningful picture...her loneliness is quite sad while at the same time I imagine she finds some solace in her music

I don't think it's that sad. At least she cares for herself and dresses up to show at least herself that she IS able to do music.
And she still has got her cats - and they seem to love her...
I like the drawing and I don't think it is so sad if you put yourself in her position and comprehend that she KNOWS that she's good enough and that she doesn't need real auditors to pat her shoulder.
