Very old, weird and definitely magical
Okay... I've been so tired of all the realistic, safe pictures of animals and I've just had to paint something non-realistic and funny
And this was fun, that's for sure - I finally tried a new paper, Arches hot-press - it doesn't have such a smooth feeling I like on my illustration boards, but it much better allows wet in wet technique.Original is for sale... if you're interested, just send me a note or an email and I'll be happy to reply

I love this piece!
The colours are so vibrant and powerful, and the knowledge that this was all done in watercolour really makes me want to go do something with them. It's inspiring and just, funnily enough, magical ^^

I've watercolour plenty of times, I used to use them when I was younger because I stole my sister's paints thinking they were your average kiddy paints
I'm comfortable with the media
It's just been a few months since I did anything with them.
And no problem at all, it's beautiful ^^

I love the purple and yellow--they work surprisingly well together. I also like how it seems as if the leaves are coming to the tree, instead of blowing away. Going along with the title, it's as if this is the formation of the tree. I think my favorite element of the whole piece is the way the colors are done--I love the transitions from pale to dark, sometimes blending softly into each other and sometimes sharply contrasting next to each other... but always with the tree as the opposite of the background so it stands out clearly. The effect is very stormy and chaotic but with an underlying fluidity and connectedness to the work. It's really cool.
