Made this to celebrate catching up on the 1993 animated series Mighty Max, and also as a bit of a present for , since they told me they were a fan of that series.

Truth be told, Mighty Max was a bit before my time, as its run ended less than a year before I was born, but I became interested in it for the same reason I check out any TV show that was before my time and/or I somehow missed out on: I read about it on the Internet and thought it would be neat to watch.

The thing is that this cartoon was heavily based on a toyline also called Mighty Max, which was manufactured by a British toy company called Bluebird Toys and distributed in the US by Mattel. The basic premise is that Max started out as your average young boy, but he's destined to wear the cap and travel through portals to battle the evil Skullmaster and other villains, aided by the superstrong swordsman Norman, the wise Lemurian Virgil, and occasionally getting help from his mother and his friends Bea and Felix.

One of the coolest things about this show is that it's one of the few cartoons aimed at children that don't sugarcoat the concept of death. A lot of characters actually die on this show, though of course the gorier deaths happen offscreen.

What I really liked about the show, however, were all the voice actors involved. Since pretty much every episode uploaded on YouTube doesn't include the end credits, most of my info on voice actors I only know from reading Wikipedia, imdb, and the official website of one voice actor, but I've seen so many cartoons that I've noticed some of my favorite voice actors have specific and recognizable voices they use for their characters, and there were quite a few characters whose voice actors I recognized because of the voices used.

Rob Paulsen- He voices the titular character as well as the British archaeologist in "Norman's Conquest" and the alien leader in "Sirius Trouble". Some other roles performed by Rob Paulsen that I know him for include Raphael in the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, Donatello in the 2012 Nickelodeon TMNT show, Carl Wheezer in The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Throttle in both the original Biker Mice from Mars and its contested 2006 revival, Gladstone Gander in DuckTales, Pete's son PJ in Goof Troop and the Goofy Movies, Yakko Warner and Otto von Scratchandsniff in Animaniacs, and many others.

Richard Moll- The voice of Norman. Richard Moll's had other voice acting roles, but the only other characters he played that I recall are the DCAU incarnation of the Batman villain Two-Face and Org's father in The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald: Visitors from Outer Space.

Tony Jay- He voices Virgil as well as the werewolf Cameron in "Werewolves of Dunnelglen". Tony Jay was a voice actor I fondly remember from a lot of cartoons. It's too bad he's no longer with us. Some of his other credits I know him for include Megabyte in ReBoot, Shere Khan in TaleSpin, Dr. Lipschitz and some minor characters on Rugrats, The Wraith in the Mighty Ducks animated series, and Lord Dregg in the Red Sky seasons of the 1987 TMNT cartoon.

Tress MacNeille- She is the voice of Max's mother and is a voice actress I'm very fond of. She's played a lot of characters on The Simpsons and Futurama, some of her other roles include Charlotte Pickles in Rugrats as well as its spinoffs Preschool Daze and All Grown Up, Dot WarnerΒ  in Animaniacs, Babs Bunny on Tiny Toon Adventures, and being the current voice of Daisy Duck.

Kath Soucie- The voice of Max's friend Bea. She's another voice actress I fondly remember. My favorite roles by her include Morgana Macawber from Darkwing Duck, Maggie the Cat from Gargoyles, the twins Phil and Lil and their mother Betty DeVille from Rugrats and All Grown Up, Fifi LaFume and Sneezer in Tiny Toon Adventures, Harley in the original Biker Mice from Mars, and Dexter's Mom on Dexter's Laboratory.

Corey Burton- The voice of Max's friend Felix. His filmography on Wikipedia claims that he also voiced Osiris from "The Mommy's Hand", while Corey's official website acknowledges his role as Felix as well as saying that he voices J.C. Mega from the episodes with Cyberskull and several bit parts. Corey Burton's yet another voice actor I like. In fact, I think he's my absolute favorite. Other roles I know him for include Professor Ludwig von Drake, Spike Witwicky and Shockwave in both the Generation 1 Transformers and Transformers Animated, King Mumbo Jumbo in ChalkZone, and so many others. It would take forever to list every character from every show I've watched that Mr. Burton played.

Frank Welker- He voices Lava Lord, Skullmaster's minion Warmonger, and I believe one of the talking gorillas in "Rumble in the Jungle". My favorite roles by Frank Welker include Fred Jones in just about every incarnation of Scooby Doo (I haven't seen every one, but I know A Pup Named Scooby-Doo is the one incarnation where Fred wasn't voiced by Frank), Megatron in G1 Transformers and Transformers Prime, Dr. Claw in the original Inspector Gadget, The Claw in Quack Pack, Ralph T. Guard and Thaddeus Plotz in Animaniacs, and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in the Epic Mickey video games.

Tim Curry- He voices the series' main antagonist Skullmaster, and what an amazing villain he was! Other characters played by Tim Curry that I'm fond of include King Chicken from Duckman, Sir Nigel Thornberry from The Wild Thornberrys, Jacko from ChalkZone, Lord Dragaunus from The Mighty Ducks animated series, Dr. Finbarr Calamitous from Jimmy Neutron, and the original voice of Dr. Thaddeus Morocco from Transformers: Rescue Bots.

Charlie Adler- Voice of Max's classmate Ernie, who only speaks in "The Brain Suckers Cometh", as well as King Kalamarus from "Less Than 20,000 Squid Heads Under The Sea". My favorite roles performed by Charlie Adler include the titular characters and the Red Guy from Cow and Chicken, Ickis from Aaahh!! Real Monsters, Professor Monkey-for-a-Head in the Earthworm Jim animated series, the original voice of Buster Bunny from Tiny Toon Adventures, Mr. Bighead, Mrs. Bighead, and Gladys the Hippo Lady from Rocko's Modern Life, and Hamburglar as he appears in The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald.

Jim Cummings- On Mighty Max, Jim Cummings voices Ravendark and the Doom Dragon from "Let Sleeping Dragons Lie", J. Oliver Penderoil from "Less Than 20,000 Squid Heads Under The Sea", Beowulf in "The Maxnificent Seven", and the Conqueror and the car wash attendant in "Dawn of the Conqueror". I also know Jim Cummings for being the current voice of Mickey Mouse's archenemy Pete, Fuzzy Lumpkins in The Powerpuff Girls, the titular character of Darkwing Duck, Cat from CatDog, Skrawl from ChalkZone, Psycrow and Bob the Killer Goldfish from the Earthworm Jim animated series, and Tad, the narrator, and the general from the What A Cartoon! short Swamp and Tad: Mission Imfrogable (the other characters from that short being voiced by Charlie Adler and Tress MacNeille).

Who knows what other shows I missed out on I'll try? Right now, my top choices are Road Rovers, Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa, The 7D, and Wander Over Yonder. I know the last two have been cancelled, but these things happen, and I can't be expected to catch up on every cartoon show all at once. I'm also planning on revisiting shows I haven't seen in years, like Dexter's Laboratory, Animaniacs, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi Show, and every show in the DCAU aside from The Zeta Project (since I already caught up on that one last year).
