Description
Just a quick painting for Sajhiri's contest.A Berceuse is a lullaby.. I'm currently playing Blumenfeld's "Berceuse Op. 23 No.3" for piano, and its very lovely, and stuck in my head while I was painting this. Somehow the classicalness rubbed off on this painting..
This time I try to tone down the colors I used.. my previous paintings sort of burned into my eyes. I wasn't sure about the cropping, but.. I decided to just leave it like this, cos it sorta looks nicer.
Done with watercolors.. about an hour XD.

Hey, I think I'm going to buy a print of this one. I just wondered, what size do you recommend? Would it look better in a smaller, average 8x 12? Or would the 4x6 still do it justice?
I'm on a college student budget, otherwise I'd buy the biggest one XD but yeah, since you made it originally, I thought you might give me a hand?

Hmmmm, for this one, I think 4x6 could be okay.. but ideally I think it will look best as a 8x12. The reason is, this is a full body pic so the detail on her face will be very reduced in 4x6.. but it will not affect the overall pic X3. But 8x12 is always the best size for anything! Thank you for buying a print though ;_____;

I ended up getting the 4x6 since I'm super cheap, but I like this one a lot, so in the future, I'll probably buy a nice big one too. I love Berceuse's in general. They're all beautiful. And I intend to listen to this one some time I don't know much Blumenfeild, tho, so this could be a nice little adventure

Wow! That is so beautiful! I love the colours and the way they contrast so well, fading into the picture. It certainly is so wonderful to look at!

Your art is lovely. I was wondering what type of paper you use for your watercolour.

Hi There!
You have just earned yourself an O.D.D.(^oibyrd's daily devs) feature ! congrats!!!
!
O.D.D.S are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure and also, to introduce the more popular artists to the new/overlooked deviants. I prefer to showcase ALL artwork that I love (and that includes popular artists with a fair amount of traffic to their work) in order to create a non-biased feature of the talent on dA. *PLZ DO KEEP IN MIND - some of the features are quite popular and obviously don't need extra help - however - I enjoy posting them because they inspire other artists. Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists . If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers! Sandi xoxo

How do you get the outlines of her body? Like the lines around her fingers, neck, shoulders, etc? You said you use mechanical pencil and go in lightly but do you erase? Or did u take a very very thin, fine, brush and paint soft but darker tones around the perimeter of the girl? Just wondering, hope you can understand my weird question

I use mechanical pencil very lightly, color over them, then use a thin brush to color over the lines again It's that simple.
